Just purchased from Gamesplanet, and have a question about the keys

The purchase came with 2 keys.

I used the "activation" key, and it worked. The multiplayer key however was recognized by Steam but did not activate, since it said "product already owned"

Now I'm a bit worried, because I'm hearing the multiplayer key is the one I really wanted to use, since it activates everything.

Did I mess up here?

Here's some related talk. Apparently you should've used the multiplayer- instead of the activation key to activate the game on your account.

You'll probably have to get in touch with the Steam support, send them both keys and proof of purchase and ask them to swap the codes.

MP, for this game? It's dead. But, did you at least try MP? I only ever had one key, was the same for SP and MP (I have the collector's edition box set) Steam screwed it all up and ran out of game keys. I haven't tried MP in years, but I still play SP. What a fun game!

Curious, how is this Steam fault? I understand they pulled the game from Steam because no more keys were provided by publisher. Wouldn't this be the fault of the publisher not Steam. Its like blaming a bookstore for not having a copy of a specific book after the publisher stops making copies.
