I need help, G mod wont run.
Ok, basically, garry's mod just wont run, it starts then stops responding and quits. Will it even run on my computer or is something wrong.

Need to know way more about your computer than that.
First: have you got Source games to run Gmod on? It's not a stand-alone game, it is a sandbox which *requires* the use of another Source game installed on that account and hard drive (and played at least once) to run at all. If you don't already own a Source game, you're going to need one: -- The Orange Box (half life 2, the episodes, portal, team fortress 2) -- Counterstrike Source (also available with gmod but ifyou've already got gmod, you'll want this for sure anyway) -- Left 4 dead 1 and 2 will give you the engine, but until Gmod 13 is released as an update they don't work very well as resources -- Day of Defeat Source (good for resources and the engine, but used very little in addons) -- Portal 2 - but I don't know whether this engine is the same requirements as Gmod. Second, make sure your Source games can run at all on your computer. If you go to the Can You Run It site that will give you a dropdown list of games to compare their minimum and recommended stats on. Click the "Half Life 2 Orange Box game, and let it analyze your computer. Check what it says carefully. If you're not sure about your computer specs or how to find them, use your Steam library. In the Help tab at the very top, click System Information. Let Steam analyze your computer. Copy and paste the info here. Some computers that use only an onboard, integrated graphics CHIPSET cannot run Source games very well if at all. This may be your issue if you don't have a separate graphics CARD inserted in your computer (or if you're running on a laptop, as they are notorious for not having separate cards). So it's important to know what your computer can do, check it against the basic game requirements, and then check your system specs on steam for us please. |

Well here's some information to try and help, can't believe I didn't put it the first time, ok the only source game I have right now is tf2, and I had allready went to that site, and supposedly, the orange box would run. Also, the info at the top, is what I got from checking the system on steam. Thank you for your help.

No, the steam info is extremely long and involved. Need to know at least the whole bit with the video card information and DX levels.

Are you using a laptop?
In any event, even if you do have a computer to run it, you're going to need a lot more than just the freebie TF2 items to properly enjoy Garry's Mod. It doesn't come with its own resources, it relies on the installed Source games you have on the account, and drive. |

Your intel graphics integrated chip is the problem here. Many of those don't play Source well if at all. I don't need to know much more than that: your computer is not going to be able to play this game.
If it is a desktop, you can upgrade and put a video card into it. If it's a laptop I highly recommend not trying to play games on it. Most laptops are not geared toward good gaming. Have you attempted to run Team Fortress 2? Does it work at all? And yes, the resources for Garry's Mod must be both a) owned legally on the same account as gmod, and b) installed on the hard drive and used at least once to open the content files for gmod to use them. |

On that specific machine? What settings are you using for it? And, when did you get the game? Just wondering because it may be running on an older engine version than gmod does now, I'm not sure when they've ever updated tf2 aside from adding hats.

Well, yes on that machine, normal settings I think, and I've been playing since last year, and yeah they do a lot of item updates.

Try right-clicking on Gmod's icon in your library and doing the following things:
Click properties, and then files, and Verify the game files. Restart Steam. Also in properties I believe there is a Launch Parameters option. Click that and type in the launch bar -windowed . That will hopefully let you run it windowed so you can get into the menu and settings. If you're able to do that, go and change your video settings (lower, presumably), and also go into Extensions and make sure that TF2 is clicked off so it runs with the game. I'm just guessing at this point, though. If TF2 runs, gmod SHOULD run. It seems as though you've got plenty of hard drive space, and everything. |

Cool, definitely if you figure it out, post the process. If you don't, well, post anyway and hopefully there will be something new to help you with.
