Scanning for Steam game updates... won't stop
Steam has been scanning for steam game updates for about 20 minutes. I can cancel the scan, but whenever I try to play a game it starts again. I restarted steam a few times but it didn't help. What do?

I can´t start a single game.

change download region. log off. log in. |

I had this same problem a couple of hours ago (shortly after downloading the new update)...fixed it by closing out of Steam, deleting the ClientRegistry.blob and AppUpdateStats.blob, and relaunching.

In future it might be a better idea to start a thread asking for help when you have a problem in the Help and Tips forum rather than nekro posting to a two year old thread.
Two possible solutions have already been posted in the thread. Try changing your download region in the Steam->settings Download+Cloud tab in the Steam client and if that does not work navigate to where Steam is installed on your hardrive and delete ClientRegistry.blob then relaunch Steam. Have you tried those solutions? |
