Far Cry 2: do enemies see worse during night ?

I am on a mission in the early game to kill some guy inside the village/shanty town of Makuba, but I can't get into the village without getting spotted. They are everywhere and I can't find enough hiding places.

Would I have more luck during night? Are enemies affected by the dark or is it just an eye candy thing to have different times of day?

I am playing on Hardcore difficulty level.

nightime you can have more stealth abilities, especially with the camo suit. That is one of the hardest missions to be stealthy with. Too many guys.

LOL, if it's the first mission in a town I'm thinking of, I made the same mistake of going in guns blazing. You will never make it, day or night. You have to just walk in slow and steady, find the guy, knife him, then run like hell back to your car and drive as fast as you can out of town.

The AI can see just as good at night as in daytime. Camo helps, but not as much as it should.

AI sight range is reduced at night. I've tested this. As long as you're crouched in tall grass, you can get pretty close to them.
I wouldn't have been able to get this close if it was day; http://youtu.be/-rbQit7UH8Y

At the north end of Mokuba, where the main road leads in, there's a small path to the right of the road. It's a pretty good sniper spot, close to the merc on the platform, who's toting an RPG launcher.

I guess y'all had better luck with the AI than I ever did. They always seemed to see or hear even one blade of grass move. They were always on me as fast as flies on poop. And I was the poop.

Nighttime is always better when you want to be stealthy. I go in with the silenced makarov and stay hidden and pick guys off one at a time. I've been able to go into the post office (Southern map) and not have a single shot fired at me while I've cleared the whole area.

It can also be easier for you to see enemies at night as their white shirts reflect the moonlight making them stand out more.

I finally managed.
In daylight I took a few guys out and then when the chaos became too much, i.e. they were coming for all directions, I ran like h*ll into the village and managed to hide in a shed to which the entrance became a choke point I used to take them out one by one as they came at me (FarCry 1 style ). It took some bleeding and patching up but I got the bulk of the guards from that shed and then went on a hunt to pick off the remaining ones. I like that they got more cautious the fewer they were left.
