sorry kid, but you are wrong. They didn't do expansion packs and crappy overpriced DLC in those days.
Gods and Kings on Amazon for $23 and here for $50. rort. |

They didn't do DLC certainly but I've seen many expansion packs decades before DLC (or even games that were near copies of their predecessors).

They sold expansion packs in the 80s. In the late 90s big games like Age of Empires and GTA sold expansion packs.

Also, stop trolling? 80 bucks USD for Civ5?
50 for Gods and Kings? Admittedly in Euros, but: 29,99 for Civ5 and G&K for €29,99 |

Anyway, if you don't like the price it costs on steam then buy it somewhere else. Like Civ V, Gods & Kings is a steamworks title so a retail copy of the game would still register on steam. |

i dont know why anyone would buy games from steam in oz at the ♥♥♥♥ price structure they have in australia, when companies like gmg offer the same games with steam keys.

Yeah, in Australia - seems we get shafted. And the prices here are in USD.
Civ2, GTA1, Age of Empires etc are not early 90s - they are later half/late 90s. Say XCOM for example - a classic, came out in 1994. No expansion packs. Each new XCOM was a standalone new game. Still being remade today. Civ1 - 1991, Colonisation, 1994 - stand alone. |

Honestly, I am still mind boggled that the gamers of Australia haven't risen up in anarchy against steam and the way you disperse your bandwidth. Check this out, Verizon over here in Southern California has a new 300 mb/s connection relatively cheap. I use a 25 mb/s speed and its unlimited. You guys really should do something about this. If I was you, I'd start a gamers union

No, you shouldnt consider that, because actually steam charges aussies in USD, and we have to pay an international transaction fee for the privilege! the pricing is that high because lots of publishers view australia as a money trough and they dont care about the consumer. seriously i went into GAME shop over here and there was a copy of MW2 for $200.

greenmangaming.com
macupdate.com All of those should have a better deal than buying 2K Games' grossly overinflated Australian prices (it is what I did) |

Sounds like you could make a fortune, if you would open a gameshop in austraia, impot games from over the ocean and then sell them for sane prices (i.e. prices that still allow you to make money, but are less ridiculous high compared to your competition).
You surely would have customers coming from all over australia/NZ to visit your shop, as even with traveling expenses it would be cheaper to buy games in your shop, than at the overpriced competitors nearby |

There are plenty of sellers who do that already for boxed games.
