Warrior Within - Absurd Difficulty

Okay, there's something about this game where... it just kicks my butt no matter how hard I try to be careful and or use fancy moves to make my life easier.

Doesn't matter if it's on easy, it STILL kicks my rear. And when I'm down and almost out of life, THERE'S ALWAYS NO SAVE AREA AND OR ANY SOURCE OF WATER TO DRINK!

Yeeeesh. I've played hard games before, but not games where it, in my opinion, gives you unfair gameplay elements such as the one I just describe. You really can't mess up in this game, not like the other Prince of Persia games. If an enemy damages you a lot and you can't just rewind, you're simply screwed because someone thought it would be a good idea to scarcely place water (AND I MEAN VERY SCARCE) around the heavy enemy areas.

Gah, this is just me venting about the game is all. It's a good game underneath the frustration difficulty level... but I wish it WASN'T so difficult to begin with. Reminds me of Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox almost, just without the ninja.

These things you may have already tried but if you haven't I thought I'd just share these tips.

Pick up a second weapon, very beneficial in many ways. It will let you do more advanced combos that can attack multiple enemies at once and also allow you to block better from stronger enemies. Which brings me to ask are you blocking attacks? That is also very important when you are feeling under a lot of pressure.

Next each enemy has a different strength that you need to be aware of how to deal with them. For example the red female ninjas, if you try and jump over them then they will just counter you. So learn their patterns of strength and weakness of each enemy.

I don't know how far you are but later on you get two abilities that makes battles easier by activating your sand tanks. You will be able to slow down time(very useful in boss battles) and the other later ability allows you to become super fast.

Basically practice some combos even just basic ones, be acrobatic, use grab, use the Eye of Storm(slowing down time), learn your foes, and finally block & use dual weapons two of the most valuable moves as they are very effective and & simple to carry out.

Combining all of these areas will make battles and challenge a lot easier.

Oh and one final tip try and acquire life upgrades. These are in secret locations and will give you more more health throughout the game and if you acquire all of them you can get the secret ending.

Hope this helps

Are you playing with a controller? Warrior Within is one of my favorite games of all time. The combat system is amazing and intuitive. It's challenging, but it gives everything you need to feel in control with enough practice. I personally felt the learning curve was perfect, not like Ninja Gaiden at all.

As someone who completed this game many times, including one time on hard without ever dying (well, that was after 4 consecutive playthroughs, I kinda memorized everything) I must tell you one thing - you have to learn the combat system. The best thing is you can actually complete every fight without losing health at all, aka flawless entire game. You can't flawless Dahaka on hard due to one poor design choice, but well...
Oh and I must tell you that when I've started playing this game the first time I've died like 30-40 times on that "lady on the boat". Well, at some point I've realized that bosses have patterns, much like in fighting games. Learn to block, counter and remember their attack patterns, aka when they are vulnerable and when they can block an attack.
I know it may seem hard, but complete it once or twice and you'll start breezing through.

I had this game for Playstation and I beat it several times. But I cant for the life of me get my gamepad to work, and I also find the first fight impassibly hard on PC. This port feels so broken.

EDIT: I figured out what I was doing wrong. It's rather stupid really I just needed to hit enter after clicking on the input I wanted to change and wait for the flashing _ before I changed the impute on my game pad. Now that I have my controller working the game is easy again.
