Unable to launch game

Hello,

I bought the game while on sale, and haven't been able to launch it since.

I've tried rebooting my computer, and re-installing the game but still no luck.

Wondering if anyone might have had a similar issue?

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and it will display a message saying "preparing to launch Space Ark" for about a second, then it disappears and nothing happens.

I don't know if you're having the same problem I had, but mine was because I was missing a DirectX dll.

When I tried to launch the game I got a brief message that it was launching, then the message would go away and I'd remain at the desktop. I finally tried running the actual executable for Space Ark (located in the commonapps folder in your Steam folder) and that actually gave me a message that I was missing a file, which I believe was called d3dx9_42.dll. I downloaded that file, put it in the same folder as the Space Ark executable, and the game launched and ran fine from that point. Here's a page explaining a little more in detail.

Long story short, it looked like the game/install was missing a directx file, and rather than telling you when launching from Steam it just doesn't work. Good luck!
