Mana Leak didn't work

Garuk played "Terra Stomper" an 8/8 creature and used all his lands.

So I played "Mana Leak" when it came into the game, clearly stating: "Counter target spell unless it's controller pays (3)" and his creature still entered the game... so, uhm... wtf?

I mean, it doesn't mean me (with controller), right? That just wouldn't make any sense.

Everything's fine, it's just that Terra Stomper, quote, "can't be countered" ;)

Sometimes it is good to stop the timer & look at the card itself before you make your next move.

If it would've not been an optional card, you should've not been able to even target TerraStomper. I wonder if they changed this from D12.

As long as a spell is on the stack, Mana Leak can target it, w/ some exception.

Let's look at Summoner's Bane.

If you were to cast Summoner's Bane targeting Terra Stomper while it is still on the stack, you will get a 2/2 Illusion token. Terra Stomper will still resolve.

Originally yes. It's not a [Shroud]/[Hexproof] ability which prevents targetting itsself. But afair D12 even prevented targetting "not counterable" creatures with destroy/ cancel effects. Just an UI thing, but a gameplay bug.

Terra Stomper can be targeted by spells that try to counter it (such as Cancel). Those spells will resolve, but the part of their effect that would counter Terra Stomper won't do anything. Any other effects those spells have will work as normal.

I call gameplay bugs those, which don't obey the original games (MtG) rules. And no, there were not many of them in any of the DotP games. They followed the rules by >99%.

I differ bugs:
- player (90%)
- network/ sync (8%)
- GUI (1.2%)
- Engine (0.7%)
- Gameplay (mechanics) (0.1%)

For the people with no D-bag comments; Thanks, I completely forgot about that. I haven't played with the Garuk deck that much since the whole deck was already unlocked for my game. Can't believe I forgot about that.

You could cast Cancel when a player cast Thrunn, the Last Troll in D12. The rules are still the same, nothing changed. They work correctly.

And Terra Stomper is, in no way, an untargettable creature. The card text doesn't say this anywhere.

Dude if we were not being able to target that card than some1 would surely come here and scream gamebug. Claiming that he should have been able to target it with a counter spell even if it comes through. Because he had Talrand, Sky Summoner outside and just wanted the 2/2 flyer to maybe block something or fly over to the enemy with it next turn to finish him off.
Being able to choose if u still want to cast the counter spell or not is way better than not having that option. Not having that option in itself would be a gamebug not following the game rules. Which can sometimes change how the game turns out. Just because some ppl cant even read the card they want to counter -.- .

What I was remembering was Gaea's Revenge. But here I see it also has an ability similar to Shroud. Gotta check, if D12 has this description in.

On this case though he is wrong if he screams gamebug because u are able to target it.
If u were not able to target it and some1 screams gamebug than that one is right.

His green "shroud" ability is only valid when he is in play. He can be targetted when cast, when it is still on stack.
