It also seems to depend on how often the player plays at that fps.

Awhile back when I had a pretty weak PC I was playing World in Conflict, but even at the lowest settings couldn't run pas 15fps. But to me it didn't seem laggy, though it did if I tried to turn the graphics higher.

As I played different games and got better pc's I could play at higher fps and my eyes got used to those fps.

Now anything under 50 fps is noticeably slower and bothers my eyes. I am actually be able to watch a game and tell within 5~ how many fps it's running at, and able to confirm by turning on an fps counter.

Gamers who are used to a constant 20 fps in all games will have their eyes adjusted to it so well, that it won't bother them and they can't tell higher.

About a year ago I couldn't see above 40, and now it's 50; so I can understand gamers who have high-end pc's being used to 60.

I really wish I could hit a switch and be able to play games at 30 fps and not have it bother me, but I have no control over this.

Seeing other players who play games such as my brothers, my sister, and her boyfriend; they can't seem to see above 30, because my sister rarely plays games, or plays the 360 which commonly runs 30, and my two brothers have a lower end pc which struggles to get past 30.

For someone like me there's a clear difference in fps rates at least up to 60, and the people who can't tell I would call lucky. At least until they get better pc's and adjust themselves to higher fps, and get angry when they play games that run unreasonably slow.

Having 60 fps has nothing to do with what your eye can see but with how fast and smooth you can move your crosshair.
High fps improves your aim, in a fast shooter like COD and BF3 wich arma is not btw a player playing at 60fps will own your if your playing at 30fps for the simple fact that he can turn and aim faster and with more precision while you are stuttering around the screen.

while I agree with you higher fps means smoother gameplay, but don't expect you will get constant 60 fps in every game with decent rig. Espesially when you turn on AA like 8x.

Get an SSD, upgrade drivers to betas, overclock cpu to >4.0ghz.

590 is a bad card for issues on weird games like this, disable SLI run one core (570 basically).

I have a gtx 580 and have the newest betas from guru3d all is fine, able to run on max.
Overclock, SSD, beta drivers all help.
