I think you babies would have never played games during the NES era if you're crying about checkpoints.

The only thing that irks me is that there is no checkpoints in boss stage (world one boss, have not gotten past yet.) It just annoys me that after I knock off the 2 crystals I get hit by the ufo spam and sent back to the beginning with is annoying tiny gaps and then waiting for the boss to show up. When the ship just floats for a moment after a hit would be a logical place for a checkpoint in my opinion. I don't know how this would apply to the other bosses given that I can't finish the first one.

I remember challenging myself to beat the original Super Mario Bros without skipping any levels and not dieing once.

Don't compare NES games with this frustrating crap.
I would play through Ninja Gaiden any time over BTR.

There should be checkpoints in an easy mode or something. I like the idea of the game, but it's just too frustrating to restart such a long level over a little mistake. Super Meat Boy is an example of how difficulty should be done, short levels with instant respawns that are based on skill.

Now the first 10 levels were easy for me, even on perfect, and then I hit Odyssey. Wow, what a challenge!! I've gone back to easy and normal and have beaten it, but have yet to perfect it. That level is unforgivingly good.

If the game was easy, I'd play it and then put it away forever, but the challenge keeps me coming back. Challenge equates to fun in my book, if you ain't being challenged by the games you play then it would seem that either you love boredom or you're a poor sport for losing to AI.

Well since this is the only thread that is alive, can anyone tell me how to fix my pink background?

There is no "AppData" folder in my Users folder and I don't see a "Bit.Trip" folder, or something, either.

Checkpoints would only slightly alleviate the boring trial and error monotony of the game. Pressing 4 buttons to the same visual stimuli with music that doesn't change significantly until near the end of the level just isn't fun and making people go back for 3 minutes isn't going to make them feel challenged, just bored.

I've beaten way harder games than this but those had something to keep me hooked. Bit.Trip Runner is just Simon Says on a platformer.

i think there's only 1 stage in the game that even goes up to 3 minutes..?

there really is no trial and error involved in btr. i've cleared stages on my first try about half the time throughout the game. if you want trial and error play limbo. there is literally no way to prepare yourself for the traps in that game.

i do however think that music plays a big role. all your actions will be on beat, and if you keep that in mind it'll help tremendously.
