Resolution Fix Easy!

Go to: steam/steamapps/common/darksector/configs
open DS.cfg
Change
Graphics.FullScreenSizeX=1920
Graphics.FullScreenSizeY=1080
to your monitors native resolution.

win7 64fbit, gtx 590
Runs great now

Its not possible to fix the fov issues they are hard coded.

Go look at a youtube video of the 360 version in action then compare to PC look at the hud its stretched & distorted some parts of the game you cannot even see part of the screen you need to progress unless its in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

PC only has the correct fov with 4:3 aspect ratio there is no proper fix whatsoever as the publisher lied about a patch the russian devs were supposed to produce when me & many others asked them to about 2.5 years ago when the game first came out on Steam.

This does not work. Only thing that does is playing in windowed mode. I've played for a bit in 1280x720 windowed and it looks fine. HUD is fully visible, nothing is stretched.

I guess, maybe different PC configurations, it works or not. I'm running it at 1920x1080, I get full HUD, and the game is smooth as butter.

Actually...if you want a correct resolution just use reversed numbers...

i.e. if you'd like 1024x768 then do this:

Graphics.FullScreenSizeX=768
Graphics.FullScreenSizeY=1024

For some reason the programmers messed up the x and y variables.

Thanks guys. I am re-downloading this now to see if I can finally get it to work. I think I deleted it in the days before I knew how to manually change resolution, even though it's a pretty simple thing to do!

EDIT: Yay, it works!

Nope... none work. 1204x768 = two dark colums on the sides+ I can see my ammo counter. 1366x768 = no dark colums and full screen + I cant see my ammo counter.

If this really works I am gonna be super happy, because I loved the game on ps3 and was disappointed when I got it on the steam sale only to discover the resolution was all screwed up.

I will post back once it finishes redownloading with a screenshot if it does work, gonna try 1280x720....or rather 720x1280

EDIT: Yea, Just tried it and it didn't ****ing work. Changed the resolution in both the DS and editor config files to 720x1280 and when I ran the game it just forced it into 640x480 every time, then when I changed the resolution to 720p in the in game menu, it just did the same messed up cut off resolution as always. Next time when you make a suggestion, actually DETAIL what the **** you did to make it work and provide screenshot evidence it actually works, that way you dont waste mine and others ****ing time with lies.

Deleting this crap again and going back to the superior ps3 version. What a ****ing joke they still sell this garbage.

I will repeat what I have said again many times on this forum!!!

Dark Sector is only hardcoded for a 4:3 FOV anything else is stretched & broken. Compare the 360 version to the PC you will instantly see the issue & some parts of the game obscure vital controls due to the aspect ratio being incorrect unless you use a 4:3 aspect ratio with pillarboxing (black borders left+right hand side of the screen).

The russian developers were supposed to patch this on release but it never happened so never will now. No hex editing or other fixes make any difference as its hard coded.

1600x1200 with black borders is how to play on a 1920x1200 LCD monitor. You can stretch the image if you want but it will look horrible.

Just look at the main menu on the 360 then look at it on PC you will see the problem straight away!!!!
