AvP 2 Problems
Hey, so I was playing Aliens vs Predator and sometimes the game randomly crashes, and so does my computer. It does not turn itself off just the screen goes black and a weird sound starts. Also the other problem is that when I once went into multiplayer, the game crashed but this time just the game, not the computer. And now I can't go to multiplayer at all. The only way to go to multiplayer again is to take the game off and then put it back on again. So, is there any way to fix these 2 problems?
![]() EDIT: When I mean crash in multiplayer, when I press the multiplayer button in the main screen it goes to where it says connecting, thats where the game crashes. Last edited by XxNetworkxX: 07-17-2012 at 03:15 PM. |

*disclaimer, I'm no computer wiz...I just know how to poke stuff and it works sometimes*
hmmm. First make sure that the game is allowed to update automatically. Open Steam library, right click on the game and click properties > updates > select update automatically. If that does not do anything...and probably won't, verify the cache files. Properties > local files > verify. Check for graphics card updates and windows updates. try lowering all graphics to the lowest and basic settings and see if that changes the outcome. Check to see if all fans (cpu, graphics and powersupply) are functioning. Maybe stuff is crashing as a safety measure to avoid overheating? Install the game through steam and not the disc??? *if my computer was crashing randomly inside and outside a game...I would check to see if any computer parts were failing/broken. Perhaps formatting the computer will solve it. Try this: Go to Start Menu, right click on (My) Computer, click Manage, in the new window on the side panel click device manager, sift through the listed devices and see if any obvious stuff has a yellow ? or !. Some of the stuff listed will probably have the ? or ! but we're specifically looking at the important stuff like motherboard buses and graphics card. What game are you talking about? The title says AvP2, a game unavailable on Steam or anywhere DD. The body of your post however suggests AvP1 or Avp2010. so once again, which AvP game are you having issue with?

Sorry, I don't know how that "2" got up there. But AvP2010 I guess.

seems to me that you'll need to rely on a digital download from steam if it is somehow missing 1 file. Did it happen to tell you which file was missing?

No, but I bought the game from Micro center because I saw how big it was and I did not want to wait like, an entire day to download it. So I use a CD.

I've never heard of Micro center...surely your copy came with an activation code for Steam services?

Yeah, it did. Micro Center is a store where they sell computer parts, TV's, mostly technology. But there are lots of games also.
