TF2 crashes on disconnect

Whenever I disconnect from a server using the Disconnect button, TF2 either hangs for several moments or crashes.

You are not alone.

Not every time but most of the time I can only play on one map before I have to restart tf2. After the little fix last week disconnecting, changing map, changing server or quitting can cause my game to freeze and crash. It's quite annoying.

At least you can actually join a server. I can't even play anymore. It just retrieves server info forever.

Are you guys using the Steam Beta client? If yes, go back to the normal client. Current steam beta does not work properly and causes games like TF2 or even HL1 to stop responding.

I wasn't aware of there even being multiple steam clients existing. I have no idea which one I have or how to tell.

Yeah I have the same issue, whenever I disconnect or change maps on a server tf2 just crashes

I use the normal client and I have the same problem.

Just go to the settings. It's on the account tab. But unless you've changed it you should have the normal client.

The latest update fixed a rare bug that cause the game to crash on disconnect

That patch put the bug on everyone

I've had this a lot since the last update. It's never crashed as such, just frozen for a few seconds.

I used to sometimes crash when I quit the game overall (not a server), which I always found amusing. "I'm sorry, I can't quit the game right now. I'm therefore going to have to quit the game."

This happens to anyone using mods that joins a sv_pure 2 server and disconnects from it, I believe, although this just started happening not too long ago, so I'm guessing an update broke it.
