Alien swarm SDK and possible VAC ban?
Hey guys,
Me and my team work on mod and we are considering moving from 2007 to Alien Swarm version. The thing is that I'Ve heard some rumors that it's possible to get VAC ban? To get things straight, our mod is MP and SP as well and we would have to make some big changes to the code and stuff. For example, instead of top-down view, it would be 1st person and so on. It would be bscly total conversion. The question is, is there possibility that VAC will detect those changes and ban our accounts? |

I doubt you are going to get VAC banned for using Valve's mod tools..

The thing about modding is that you create new files, not overwrite the original game's files (which is what triggers VAC bans). When the mod launches, its settings tell it to use the files you created.

As I said on Moddb. If you were to replace the Alien Swarm binaries in the game itself, and manage to launch and connect to a server something could happen. But that requires you do it on purpose.
