I have a question about the censored version of L4D2.

Hey guys, basically I have a very simple yet puzzling question.

I bought L4D2 in Australia through Steam, and of course, it was the censored version. However, now Im in Europe, or more precisely the middle east (if you prefer to call it like that) and am wondering, if Ill install it now, will I get the censored or uncensored version?


Also, whats the size of L4D2? Some people say its 7.4GB, and some say 12GB. Any idea?

7.4 GB for me.

As for your censorship question, I don't think that's tied to your current region, it's tied to the version of the game you have. Regardless of whether you're still in Aussie or not. You have a copy of the censored version, and so it stays like that.

Im downloading it at the moment. Feels weird downloading the censored version when Im not even in Australia, sucks to be honest.

Although it's not exactly the same, you can also put -lv in the launch options, which will give you most of the features from the censored version(I don't think it effects whether Raid Cops spawn like the censored version does).

Nope... once the censored version is on your account the only way to get rid of it is by contacting Steam Support. Where they'll most likely deny your request of changing it.

They may accept the request of removing the game from your account allowing you to re-buy the game that will give you a Cd-key of a normal version. I know that they are capable of removing games from your account, because they removed that HD texture Skyrim DLC from my account when I asked them to.

don't trust what Steam shows as the "disk usage". It's completely inaccurate.

go here instead:

\steam\steamapps\common

right-click the 'left 4 dead 2' folder and select 'Properties'. what does it say? not 7.4GB, eh??

note that you will need to subtract the contents of your 'addons' folder if you have any add-ons installed:

steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons

You will definitely get the censored version. I don't think the support will exchange your censored version for the uncensored one. The easiest way to play uncensored is Left4Uncut: click me
