Issues with smd to mdl compiling
hey guys im pretty new to this modeling thing and im have problems trying to compile my model. decompiling was pretty damn easy but compiling, not so much.
i get these problems whenever i use GuiStudioMDL 2.2 to compile, Unable to find gameinfo.txt. Solutions: 1. Read http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/faq.html#NoGameDir 2. Run vconfig to specify which game you're working on. 3. Add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the directory that gameinfo.txt is in. Unable to find gameinfo.txt. Solutions: 1. Read http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/faq.html#NoGameDir 2. Run vconfig to specify which game you're working on. 3. Add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the directory that gameinfo.txt is in. i've already directed the path to where my gameinfo.txt is in both in ep1 and orange box pls help EDIT: When compiling QC in StudioCompiler, i get this message D:/Steam folder/steamapps/common/alien swarm/bin/studiomdl.exe -game "D:\DOTA 2\root" "D:\AM ANIMS\mdldecompiler.qc" WARNING: AppFramework : Unable to load module p4lib.dll! qdir: "d:\am anims\" gamedir: "D:\DOTA 2\root\" g_path: "D:\AM ANIMS\mdldecompiler.qc" Building binary model files... You are linking the GUIStudio to the wrong folder...
Install TF2, HL2: Ep 1 and Source SDK, open them all at least once so they can configure themselves, then point the EP1 gameconfig to Steam\steamapps\YOURUSERNAME\sourcesdk\bin\source2 009\bin And the Orange Box to Steam\steamapps\YOURUSERNAME\sourcesdk\bin\orangeb ox\bin Do not use Alien Swarm SDK, I was using it and you won't be able to see your model afterwards on the model viewer. Also, beware if you're using maya 2012... The SMD exporter tool it bugged. I can't seem to get it working.... |

Click configure at the top of the compiler. Set your Steam Game Directory to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota" or wherever steam has your game stuff. Make materials and models folders matching your decompiled folders, and place your vtf and vmt files in them. Click compile QC and it will compile and then you move .mdl file to your SDK tools directory that is linked to Alien Swarm. You can view your model in DOTA 2 item tester or Alien Swarm SDK now.
So, if you do have questions ask away, I JUST solved this problem for myself today! |
