what is the soundtrack like?

Is it worth buying the soundtrack edition? Or is the regular game good enough, and the soundtrack just ok but not extraordinary?

With the sale prices, it's incredibly hard to go wrong.

That said, while I think all of the tracks are great in the game, there are only a few that I ever really listen to outside the game.

But again. I would still pay full price for the game alone. $6 for the game and the soundtrack is an absolute steal.

I think the soundtrack is really damn good. You could always check out some of the different songs on YouTube as a deciding factor? Personally I'm a big fan of Spike in a Rail, Build That Wall, and The Mancer's Dilemma, if you wanted a few to check out.

That's not a bad one either, but not a personal favorite. Plus, don't want to list everything, otherwise the poor guy will never have a chance to actually get the game

Much love for Setting Sail, Coming Home. For me it's a perfect track for the end game, captures the moment magnificently.

When I originally downloaded the OST a year ago the site described it as "frontier trip hop". It's most comprised of upbeat instrumentals, some of it can sound twangy and western music or just jazzy/bluesy, but there's undertones of hip hop beats and even some mild technoish/electronica stuff. One song I really like is called 'Busher Patrol' which is more of a rockin' a twangy western sounding lead. Finally there are some folky vocal tracks laid over accoustic guitar which are very bittersweet and haunting.

It's one of the best video game soundtracks I've ever heard and I've been playing games for over 25 years.

I'd recommend playing the game and hearing the music in context first, then enjoying it by itself later.

Let's put it this way... Bastion's Soundtrack is currently one of my favorite albums of all time, in GENERAL. Not even just video game music, it ranks in my top 10 favorite albums of ALL TIME. It's incredible. Seriously, really, really incredible. Must have soundtrack.

I really honestly listen to it quite often outside of the game.

Oh, I love that one!

Personally, I find that many of the songs on the soundtrack have a decided middle-eastern influence. I even recognize some of the instruments (for example, I am clearly hearing a ney in Bottom Feeders right now).

As an amateur (very very amateur) bellydancer, it makes me want to put on a turban and tassels and do some tribal style moves.

Get the soundtrack. No need to debate or even think about it. It's great and if you don't immediately love it I will personally refund you the money.

The soundtrack is the best part of the game, unfortunately.

LOL

This game is amazing and the soundtrack is no different. This game is easily one of the top 5 best games from the Indie scene on Steam last year. This and Terraria are probably the two MUST BUY indie games from last year.

The soundtrack on this game is beautiful. The whole game is really with the art design, and the narration is fantastic. Can't recommend this game highly enough. I would use a GAMEPAD to play it though. Much more fun and seems to be made for that route. Uses a 360 interface, but if you use motioninjoy you can emulate a 360 controller with a PS3 controller.

Yes, the best part of the game is the soundtrack. But that only means that the game is amazing, while the soundtrack is godlike.
