Why you should NOT buy this game (Actual reasons not just "It's bad")

Okay, so I imagine people viewing this thread will be both owners of the game and potential buyers. To the owners, this is a list of reason why a potential buyer should not buy the game. You already own it making some points, such as the "Supporting bad practices", redundant to you. But please read nonetheless.

Okay, so pretty much what follows is a list of reasons why this game should not be purchased. I'll try to keep it short but concise.

1. When the game was in alpha stage, the developers were using models and art assets from another indie developer called 'Lukewarm media' who are making a dinosaur vs human multiplayer game. Anyway, the reason this wasn't good (Even though I believe now, after months of patching, they have their own art assets.) Is because they used THREE excuses over the course of a couple of weeks. First they said that they only have them in the game for alpha testing and would replace them when the could. Then they later stated that they had hired the 'Lukewarm media' artist (Which they did not, he is still at 'Lukewarm') and then after both of those they told people they were using their own art assets and that Lukewarm had stolen theirs. Not only is this just dodgy practices, it's worse because 'Lukewarm' is also an indie developer.

2. The kickstarter funds, now this one is a little hard to prove either way, but it is believed that $20 000 from the Kickstarter was taken by the lead developer and used for personal things.

3. The lead developer/man in charge is a tool. He has, on more than one occasion, called Primal Carnage developers a range of explicit language that SteamForums will block, so I won't list. But they have called the fans and developers of other games a lot of foul things.

4. People were fired from Spiral games after completing their assigned task, however they were fired BEFORE they got paid. So Spiral studios pretty much stole assets/time and abuse memebers of the studio.

5. The game was released broken and buggy, with very few people able to play in the first week. Since then it has been patched, but this is unacceptable.

6. The forum moderators/ Spiral studios developers will delete pretty much any thread or post that is negative toward them or the game. This is turning the offical forums into a dictatorship meaning anyone going there to see what the games like before buying will only see positive threads and posts. It's like paying reviewers for positive reviews, except cheaper (in both ways)

Now, if you've read this far you are getting the idea. THESE ARE ALL BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES AND THE DEVELOPERS ARNE'T AT ALL WORTH SUPPORTING. If you buy this game, you will be saying to everyone "Hey, I'm happy to buy a game that was developed by people with very dodgy practices and very few morals.
If you still want the game, buy it. I'm not stopping you. But I've seen boycotts over Ubisoft because of their old 'always online'. They wanted to let Ubi know it wasn't acceptable. I want to let Spiral know, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! We need to use our wallets to their potential. Don't buy this game!

If you want to play a dinosaur game, Dino D day has been around for a couple of years, and while the reviews back then weren't very favourable for the game. The developers have listened to the community and have patched it to awesomeness. It's also on the Source engine and only $10.
Primal Carnage is in alpha/beta and you can sign up for beta testing right now! http://www.primalcarnage.com/website/ Thats the website, and you can go to the media section and watch some videos if you are interested, and then hit the Beta sign up button on the homepage.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! Happy gaming, and anyone wanting to prove me wrong on a point. I'm happy for you to do so, just leave the swearing out of it, lets have a nice clean debate.

1. Is true however they did eventually change them
2. and 4. can not be proven right or wrong so I won't comment
5. Is very true and was very bad business
6. I think the deletions (the recent ones anyways) are due to derailing threads
for example there are plenty of threads on first page still open with negative posts
and Dino D Day is definitely worth the time and money

The only reason I didn't buy the game is because it looks boring and lacks content. And this is coming from someone who is a sucker for dinosaurs.

Reading about backstage drama is entertaining, but nearly every game has stories like that behind it.

Creaturemag1c, would you by any change be able to add some sources to your list?

Also, the forum moderators had other reasons than the negativity of threads:

You can still find negative posts. You already said it: "just leave the swearing out of it, lets have a nice clean debate."

Yeah, it sucks... I basically cry when I hear the Jurassic Park theme, I am in love with dinosaurs and anything related, especially games, and there aren't a lot of good ones...

Dino D-day isn't rly for my taste, but Orion and Primal Carnage are. Orion seemed like the perfect dino game. Not cuz it had jetpacks and crap, I'm not 10 years old... But because it was a survival game, it had huge maps, vehicles (kinda bad that everyone, including me, ignores weapons and rushes for vehicles, but this means weapons aren't satisfying enough), and per-total something fresh.

But it failed and it sucks... Too bad...

My recommendation is only buy this with a few friends if you want to have a laugh for a few hours. Its fun if you don't take the game seriously.

I don't rush for the vehicles, I usually just buy the magnum, SMG and the carbine and stay on the very top of the antenna where the instakilling rocks of T-Rex can't reach, and eliminate the aerial threat with the carbine for starters. After that, it's just magnum mayhem mainly.

that doesnt get boring though? just standing in the air shooting at things without it really being much of a challenge, aside from it taking 20,000 direct hits to kill a trex.

Please check your numbers, dankvwguy. With the ammo you are willing to throw at the enemy there should be at least 50 dead Sallys piling in front of you.

I'm always on the ground, right in between the dinos. It's not the best choice for staying alive, but far more fun than camping. But what ever floats your boat, there is no wrong way to play this game.

i was being sarastic :P and ya, i usually jetpack around and only land on a building when i need to let the pack recharge, aside from that i fly around until a trex hits me with a rock, even though it was facing the complete opposite way...

does it matter where you shoot the dinos? like damage zones and what not. I feel like shooting them 25 times in the foot is as good as 25 headshots, but i could be seeing things.

You will maybe see things in the future. Hit zones are on the list of upcoming features (source). For now the inside of the mouth is as good as a target as the tail.

No precise aiming required. This is how things should be.

Maybe is the key word. Like they will maybe eventually get it patched and maybe it will actually be playable at that time.
But I doubt it.

i always go support if im in solo and run circles around the raptors, roll past trexs and i mainly use either the shotgun or the LMG (can't remember its name, its the second weapon in primary) sure things dont die as they should and it will be boring camping in that case but if you're down there with the dinos it adds to the suvival experiance, getting into tight situations and fighting you're way out of them, trex boulders are my best friend at the moment, it just threw one and took out 3 raptors for me, Thanks Sally!

It really sucks this game is bundled on the Indie XI bundle because there IS a game on that bundle I do want. But, I don't want to support this game or its shady business practices. So there lies my problem. Buy the pack and get the game I want but get this game as well OR wait for just my game to go on sale sometime in the unknown future.... arrrghhhh....
