Wrong Story Line with Episode 2 - Bug!
Hi Guys,
With the long wait for Episode 2, I played Ep 1 through twice. Once saving Carley and then saving Doug. When Ep 2 showed up I wanted to keep Carley, so played the last chapter of the Saved Game with Carley, then started Episode 2. But it saved Doug and Carley was gone. This is where the bug came in. I deleted the Saved Game with Doug. Episode 2 would start but it was only a black screen with only an ax icon on the left side with birds chirping on the soundtrack. Then I deleted the entire game with the file "the walking dead pc.ncf" and all folders with walking dead. After reloading I then played through Ep 1 saving Carley, then started Ep 2. Guess what, the game still saved Doug. So I'm stuck with Doug , even though his fence alarm is cool, having a good shot like dead-eye Carley would be better. Any ideas why the game won't save Carley? Thx.

Exact same problem for me.
Saved Doug in one playthrough. Saved Carley in another. When loading the Carley savegame and selecting Episode 2, Doug is there. I suspect its a Steam cloud ♥♥♥♥up, always loading the first savegame slot, or whatever. It sucks! Fix it! edit: i just checked, my save just before the bug seems to have returned from the steam cloud, but in selecting it, the bug, of course, occurs again Last edited by 3Dog: 07-21-2012 at 06:34 AM. |

I thought I did a clean re-install,so it makes me me wonder like 3DOG if the new game synced with the Steam Cloud that only stores the decisions from last full game you previously played.
However: I went through the Forums, I found this post on a fix to keep your decisions going from Ep 1 to Ep 2 http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2780190 There is a chance that I left the "prefs.prop" file in the Telltale Games Folder, but I don't fully understand the fix. He talks about copying the "pref.prop" file from the game's DIR folder, but if you use Steam, I'm not sure if you use the Telltale Games folder C:\Users\___\My Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\ that contains the "pref.prop" file, or C:\STEAM\steamapps\common\the walking dead\pack\default which also has a copy of "pref.prop" I'm not sure what you copy to what. |

you're absolutely right, this is the only way to fix this as of now
you make backups of both original files, and then try by copying over the newer file and overwriting the older one. it took me a few tries, but eventually my decisions carried over just fine. the steam cloud is not the culprit. it's just shoddy coding on TellTales end. Walking Dead is a really nice game, but on the technical side its a horrible done job. without spoiling, i hope you never encounter the Brenda bug. if you do, may the force be with you, because that bug is infuriating |

The stuttering with shadows on is really annoying, too. With everything at max and shadows off, it never drops below 45FPS, but if I set them just to low and turn everything else down as far as it can go, I get weird lag spikes where the frame rate plummets to around 15 or 20 for a split second whenever the camera switches views. It's really distracting. Oh well, at least turning them off only affects character models and all the environment shadows appear to be baked in.
