Contacted WB Games and they just want me to send them all kinds of files, like DxDiag and MSInfo, which I'm not comfortable with to be honest.
So you wish to troubleshoot an issue without providing full information regarding the system and the problem? Well, good luck with that then.

I had a similar problem once with Batman:AA
The way i managed to fix it was like this.

1. Uninstall Joymotion via the C drive file so there is no trace of it.
2. Download ccleaner(Freeware) and run the registry cleaner - http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
3. Switch your machine off & plug in the controller and turn on.
(Hopefully you should see the driver installing themselves in the task bar)

Also try going into B:AC setting and clicking default > Accept > reboot the game and hopefully that should work.

I'm not trying to sound sarcastic but, do you have one of the Microsoft PC receivers? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-Wireles.../dp/B000MGVAAQ
I'm pretty sure it cant be used without one of these or even perhaps a 3rd party one. If you do have one and the issue persists try my instructions for the OP.

Hi, hopefully you see this.

Thanks to steam sales I had bought mirror's edge and Arkham city recently. On attempting to play mirrors edge I had the same problem as you, home button works, the menus even had the xbox buttons as options but it didnt respond at all.

Eventually found a fix for this after trawling multiple forums and this exact fix also worked for arkham city which i had the problem with a week later.

Download this emulator (Dont worry you dont actually need the emulator, just a file in it): http://tocaedit.com/forum/dload.php?...3c0b538af92221
Specifically click on the link, go to downloads, and download the 3rd entry " dinput8-x360cev21.zip " Upon extraction the file you need is in "blocker"

Upon extracting the emulator files locate "dinput8.dll" copy that file and paste it to the binaries folder in your batman arkham city install, not on my pc atm so can't remember the exact location but you will know you're in the correct folder because there will be multiple other .dll files there.

After that I had no problems with my controller working! Hope this helps!

*EDIT: I have the wireless xbox360 controller with USB dongle, but I assume this will work for the wired version too, shouldn't be a difference really.

EDIT 2: Regarding what to download

Thank you tenacious for answering, but I've just fixed the issue in the most simple way possible

In my case, the problem was solved just by opening the game while the controller was off.. then, in the 'press start button' screen, I turn the controller on, and it works!

I don't know why this happens, but if I execute the game while the controller is on, it just won´t work..

Thank you all guys that tried to help! And sorry about my english!

I never said "never" - I'm just not comfortable sending files that hold all kinds of information I don't know what is.

I know DxDiag is for hardware, correct? What is MsInfo?

EDIT 2: Regarding what to download

Thank you for your suggestion, I can't do it though. Because there's 3 dinput8.dll files in the download you directed me to. There's 3 folders with one dll file in each. The folders go as "spooferWIDECHAR" - "blocker" - "spoofer"

I see that the WIDECHAR one is for Asian locale, so it's not that one. But I'm still unsure about which one to take, even after having read the Readme.

EDIT: I went for the spoofer and it worked, my game works! After I don't know how many months.
Thank you, thank you! Really.
Been dying to play it after I bought the DLC and after I re-watched both the (Nolan) Batman movies in wait for Dark Knight Rises!

For hardware problems its better to ask in Off topic instead of the specific game. also it works fine for me.

I was just about to post on this again - as I went out and bought a wired 360 controller (The Logitech wireless one would give no force feedback on any game other than L.A. Noire), plugged it in, and guess what? Arkham City wouldn't work, but every other game would.

Solution for me was that I also have a Razer Hydra - as soon as I unplugged that from the USB port, Arkham City worked fine.

First off I'm glad you got your issue resolved. But what's nagging at me is this... You won't send some information to a reputable company's support line but you'll download .DLL files that any schmo, no offense to the above "linker", on the internet links you to? Your logic eludes me.

Yes this is true for a few games I've ran across in the past and present, AC being one of them. If I don't disable my Thrustmaster Joystick it takes precedence over the Wired XBOX Controller for some reason. Simply disabling other joypads or joysticks should allow the XBOX 360 controller to take the reigns.
