Still no fix? Is the actual game bug ridden like the demo or is it better? Will the actual game crash when trying to launch it as well? It makes me not want to buy this

What absolute bs this is...its not the 12 bucks its just the principle of it, it should fn work...wtf is wrong with this pos of game.

I have the same issue you guys are having. Just bought the game today on sale and it is just the principal of it. If anyone finds a fix please come back to post
 EDIT Got it working, just needed a PC restart

Changing the Sound settings did not Fix the demo launch for me.
However a Full reinstall AFTER changing the sound settings did. (I also rebooted & updated my sound drivers - but these didn't work until I uninstalled) So here is the fastest way (without having to re-download it all again) STOP STEAM Make sure yor sound settings are set to 48k Control Panel | Hardware | Sounds | ACTIVE CARD | Properties | Advanced Open the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Rename the Folder arcania gothic iv - demo to arcania gothic iv - demo___ Delete the Folder (where user is your user) C:\Users\USER\Documents\ArcaniA - Gothic 4 Demo Now Delete the Game in Steam. Now re-set-off the demo downloading STOP STEAM Open the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Delete the Folder arcania gothic iv - demo Rename the Folder arcania gothic iv - demo___ back to arcania gothic iv - demo Now - relaunch the demo It worked for me. |

Gothic 4 Crash on startup solved for me.
I found this in another thread on Fall of Setarrif. They suggested renaming C:\Users\My_User_Name\Documents\ArcaniA - Gothic 4 To C:\Users\My_User_Name\Documents\ArcaniA - Gothic 4_ This forces Arcania to rebuild the directory but keeps your old files in the ...._ directory. It seems to be related to the the save games. Anyway, I couldnt get Arcania to run till i did this. It also workes for Fall of Setarrif just rename C:\Users\My_User_Name\Documents\ArcaniA - AddOn To C:\Users\My_User_Name\Documents\ArcaniA - AddOn_ Hope this helps someone.
