Blocked and not knowing

Ever since valve made changes the profile comment feature a bit, peoples profiles no longer say if they blocked you from contacting them or not. Not only is this confusing but its also annoying to not be able to tell the difference. Some people on my friends list don't message back at any point in the day no matter how hard I try to get ahold of them. I don't know if I'm blocked or not or just they just have steam in game disabled. Anyone know why the contact status was removed?
