3 changes the Steam Community *really* needs (imo)

1. Ability to hide your badges
I hate the fact that every time I look at my page, I have to see the imperfect badges I have, and have to be reminded of how I missed 1 goal from getting a perfect tree house (I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this)

2. Disable group invites
One of the most annoying things about the Steam Community is always receiving group invites from people I'm not even friends with. I don't want to be in your clan's group to a game I've never played in. Even when I write on my page, NO GROUP INVITES, I still get group invites.

3. Tell us if someone blocked us
Lets say someone doesn't agree with something I have to say. I spend quite a long time talking to them, telling them how I feel about a certain something, only to find out that they blocked me an hour ago. Maybe if a person blocks someone, they should appear as offline to the person they blocked.

Dont look at the badges.

Put your profile on private. (But sure, group invites should be blockable)

Learn for the next time what got you blocked. This shouldnt happen again, usually

Learn for next time what got me blocked? Uhh, that would work if the situation I was in was my fault

A blocking has a reason.
Know the reason,
stay away from it.

I don't think you understand, people can be blocked for plenty of different reasons and it can be very annoying in any situation when someone blocks someone else and that person who was blocked doesn't realize it until they do something like look at their comments.

I feel your pain brother. And no, I don't want to make my profile private.

I think, "invisible" blocking was made so that "bad persons" dont have a "reason" to get mad about their "victim".
Instead, they can write, but no one cares. Speak to a wall, so to say.

It has a good aspect.

Blocking was not made for temporary "i am busy".
People who are blocking normal people are doing it wrong.

So you're fine if they add notifications for blocking, but you can't stand group invites? .... I seriously don't understand.

I want the steam community to have more customisation in what you can block in your profiles, I want everyone to be able to see my games, screenshots, headline etc. But just not my game time.

Yeah, Steam has a ton of features, and having direct control over who sees what for each thing would make life a lot nicer. Also another suggestion, things like screenshots for example, if I had a screenshot I wanted just one friend to see, perhaps I could have an 'invisible' option for privacy. This would mean I could send the link out to my friends, and those with the link could see it, but it would not show up on my profile or be linked in from anywhere public.

If you go to their profile and you can post a comment in their comment section or if it says "only friends blabla can post here" then you're not blocked.
If it says "You cannot post a comment because you are blocked" or something like that then he's ignoring you

People whine about a lot of things in this thread, but I'm all for everything being configurable. I don't know why the OP is catching so much flak.

1) It's your profile, you should be able to do whatever you want.

2) It's your account, see #1.

3) I disagree in this case. The idea is for a passive ignore, it may be counter to the ignore feature to enable a notification. What I would support, instead, is a more explicit process for ignoring someone. Make it harder to accidentally ignore.

I don't think so much about point 1 and 3, though i think point 1 is very valid. It is your account so see no reason why you should not be able to hide it if you want.

Point 2 is very good though, it shouldn't be so hard to implement a option to completely stop group invites. It is really annoying with all those auto group invites all the time. Especially with CS:S, don't really know about other games so i can't say.

Edit: And just a comment on point 3, I personally think that it is nobody's business that a person blocks someone. It can be many reasons for block and neither would really gain anything from knowing that, except for "creating situations". Thats my opinion though.

I agree with all your points DarkRanger57 and would love to see them implemented in the Steam community.
