Game crashes, OpenGL issue

Okay, first of all, I looked around the forums for a bit, I didn't seem to find any solution that I thought I should try. Sorry if I missed anything!

On to the problem. My issue is, that every time I play the Berlin mission, and apparantly, only when I start building some bus stops, I get the following message:

"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.

Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help.
Error code: 8"

Now, I have visited the page, and found the error code there. The solutions just did not work for me.

The log_metro shows this:

Opened log in "userdata/log_metro.txt".

Error: Runtime error in "metro/scripts/ui.script" at line 343: Internal error!

To spare you for the spam, the last line is repeated 3 billion times or so.

The solution on nvidia.com tells me to lower graphics etc. I have tried it. I have tried lowereing everything separately, and everything at once. The worst time actually was when I turned off EVERYTHING, lowered my resolution and lowered the monitors ingame hz. It forced a reboot, which it usually does not.

Anyways, before the reboot, the log did NOT show any errors. It did this time though. So I don't know if the error message is from the actual crash report, or from my most recent tries after the reboot.

The only thing I haven't tried, is increasing the rendering time. (Nvidia suggests that could be a solution). I don't really know what to search for, so if anyone knows, I'd be more then happy and willing to give that a shot. It's supposed to be done through the windows registry base.

My specs are:

ASRock X58 Extreme Motherboard
Geforce GTX 570 video card with 1280 MB RAM (With newest drivers and DX11)
6GB triple channel Kingston DDR3 SDRAM (3x2 GB Sticks)

I played the tutorial with NO problems, what so ever. Anyways, if there is anything else you need to know, just say so! I hope someone can help me!

Hello,

I am having (almost) the same problems.

My error code is 7.

In order to modify the TDC you have to modify some key in your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Contro l>GraphicsDrivers

There will probably one key in there called DxgKrnlVersion there as a DWord. Dont change it.

Right click and select to create a new key REG_DWORD, and name it TdrDelay. The value assigned to it is the number of seconds before TDR kicks in - it is currently 2 automatically in Windows (even though the reg. key value doesn't exist until you create it). Assign it with a new value (I tried 4 seconds), which doubles the time before TDR. Then restart PC. You need to restart the PC before the value will work.

Also, you can add the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Contro l>GraphicsDrivers

Right click and select to create a new key REG_DWORD, and name it TdrLimitCount. Assign a value of 999 (in decimal). This will help also ....

Hi,

I just purchased CIM on Steam with all the DLC's.
And every time I start the CIM, about 5 to 10 minutes into the game, it crashes my computer.

I always have to do a hard reboot of my system.
Its done it 3 times so far and its upsetting me.

Can someone tell me what is going on please.?
Did I miss a patch or something.? because Steam does Autopatching right?
I checked my game in the library and it says everything is downloaded.

I don't know what is going on, but I can not play the game for more than 5 minutes
before it completely crashes my system.

I have AMD Phenom II 940, 8 Gigs DDR3, ATI-HD3870 graphics card.

I just purchased this game not even 1 day ago, and I am already having problems.
Any help would be really great.

thx

I replied to your post on the official forums as well. I'm just going to copy/paste my answer into here:

I already tried this. But I didn't try with the TdrLimitCount. What exactly does that do? I set the delay at some point to 10 seconds. I could see that it had worked what I did, but it still didn't fix the problem. It just meant that it actually lingered longer in the game, before crashing, after I get the "Lost connection" message.

What should the TdrLimitCount do?

It looks like in order to play the game, the graphics card has to have
Direct-X 11 as well as more than 512mb of ddr memory,
in order for this game to work properly and smoothly
on medium and high settings do to tons of animations within the game.

I was also told that all graphics cards these days already have proper drivers for openGl of 4.1 or higher,
and that the openGl drivers is not the problem, but rather
people using old graphics cards on new games with more request of requirements
for playing the actual game itself.

you might want to look into that,
as I am already making plans to purchase a newer card as well.

hope this helps.

It doesn't actually

In all honesty though, I would be very surprised if my card counted as being "old"? I know it's not the newest on the line, but it's still pretty damn high on the benchmark tests for a reasonable price. And since I just bought it, I would be very dissapointed to learn, that I would need a even newer card for this game. If that's the case, I'd say they are really aiming at a very small percentage of people tbh.

My card should be good enough. It has DX11, over 512mb RAM and the required OpenGL drivers.

But thanks for the reply! It is indeed correct this game requires a lot. I would just think I had the computer for it.

I have the OpenGL crash problem too. I'd think that GTX570 is enough for this game...

EDIT: Please disregard my post. The problems are related to faulty hardware in my case.

I have the game on an older system with an ATI 5770 and it works fine. When I installed it on the newer system with a GTX 570 it crashes within a few seconds reporting the OpenGL timeout issue (error 7).

If someone has a solution for this, please post here. Thanks in advance.

I'm also unable to play on a 570. It crashes reliably ~20-30 minutes into the second map on the campaign. Berlin I believe. Tried many steps mentioned in other posts and still no luck. Win 7 64bit. 12gb. i7 2600. 570. Saw DLC and the sale and I was hoping there would be a game update to resolve these crashes.
