Achievements!

ACHIEVEMENTS!!

NOT Handthemtomewillynillyments.

If you didn't get the last vote you have absolutely no one else to blame but yourself. If there was ANYTHING unfair about it sure, but since there isn't, then nothing needs to be done about it.

Firstly, I knew it was finishing on the 23rd because I saw it say that 100x and secondly, I'm from the EU so there is literally NO excuse. I didn't even make a real effort to set out and get it, after all, it's just a stupid ICON, yet what do ya know, I still got it. Don't even think about trying to pull the "I have a life card" since 1) You haven't a single clue to who has one and who doesn't, and 2) If you did, you wouldn't be caring about a silly little badge.

Yes, they're called 'achievements', not 'liveintheUSAments', or 'beluckytobethereattherighttimements'.

The problem is that, unlike what you said, there was a bit of unfairness in the story :
If you lived in Europe (for instance, it's probably still valid for other parts of the world) and voted before the new daily deals on sunday (i.e. as soon as the vote appeared, there was like a 1h window), your only chance to get the badge was either to stay up late (1:00 am for me), or have time to do it early in the morning (before 8:30 am in my case). Which, for most people having to work, isn't possible.

PLUS, if we were to believe what was done for the past 9 days of the summer sale, we would expect a last vote from 9:00am to 4:30pm (if I'm not mistaken). Which didn't happen. Without any notice.

And this is the real problem : if we knew this vote wouldn't take place, we could have planned ahead and somehow vote during the 1:00am-8:30am period.

So in the end, it's not really a matter of whining because we didn't get the badge, it's a matter of Valve handling of this last vote quite poorly.

Only, you're wrong. Because I do live in the EU, I didn't put any effort into it and yet, I still have it.

Stop making excuses for your own lack of effort.

Also, if you don't go to bed late, you'd be awake early so time to do it. If you go to bed late and missed the morning, you had time to do it. If you knew about it and didn't do it so you could whine about it, your own fault, if you didn't know about it then it's your own fault for not reading up on it. The fact that you care so much over a pointless little icon just says that you want it for the sake of having it and should screw over those who actually did put some effort into it (and again, no real effort needed to be to get it).

I don't know, I got my badge when I voted in the afternoon on Sunday with about 24 hours still left in the sale. All that said, it's amazing how bent out of shape people are getting over missing a chance to earn a useless little image on their profile. They do nothing for you and I only got mine because it took almost zero effort to get. I really don't feel sorry for anyone who missed out on this considering you barely had to try, so if you didn't even do that much then that's unfortunate for you.

What a brat you are...
So basically, because you had your badge, anyone else can just shut the hell up ?

I'm not whining or anything ; I was a bit ticked off when I discovered too late that the last vote I was expecting didn't happend, but I can perfectly live without an icon on my profile. But that doesn't mean I don't share the OP's point of view, or I don't find Valve's handling of that last day to be poor.

You clearly have no idea of what you're saying.
First off, you keep contradicting yourself about putting effort or not. It's not a matter of having to work hard. It's not even called an 'achievement', it's call a badge.
Then, there has been no warning whatsoever that there wouldn't be a last vote after (in my case) 8:30am (when there has always been one for the past 9 days of the summer sale). You can't read up about something that isn't known beforehand.
Finally, the day you grow up and have to work, you'll know that the last thing you want/have time to do when you get up in the morning is to turn a computer on and make a pointless vote. Even moreso when everything leads you to believe that there would be another one at a much more convenient time.

In the end, you're trying to find excuse for Valve when there is no need for one : the badge has no value whatsoever, so why deny it to half the planet by adding an undocumented twist on the very last day ?
Why didn't they count the second-to-last vote (which started about 1h before the last day) entirely for that last day ? Meaning that those people who voted as soon as the vote appeared (basically because they are diligent customers) would still get the badge (which, again, hold no value except for "thank you for using steam").
That doesn't seem unreasonable for me.

(And I'm done)

If you can point us to the place where the sale schedule was that says "On the last day, we will change how it all works and rather than having 4 items on sale that change every 8 hours, we will have one item that won't change for the next 16 hours so if if you don't vote between 12.30am and 7.30am you can't possibly get it" that would be very nice.

(i have the badge by the way)

Well this started well he says you're wrong and gives reasons; you call him a brat. Ad hominem, completely irrelevant to the topic and, also, how do you know what he's like IRL? This is the internet.

You are though. You're complaining consistently about a silly little achievement.

Refer to my first point.

Clearly showing the typical 'Everything should be tailored to me' behaviour, seeing as no one else had this.

Yet again; first point. Also I go to uni 9 to 4 then work until 8 . I still completed it. Your point is invalid and irrelevant.

By what you said about your timezone you could have also done it at night, however I may be wrong, but if you're so annoyed maybe you would have done it in the morning.

Nope he's trying to show that you have no one to blame but yourself. Other people completed it so it mustn't have been a problem for them.

It's an achievement 'everyone in the world' isn't meant to get it otherwise it wouldn't be much of an achievement. Much like those competitions where "Everyone wins".

You answered this straight away. The challenge says 'Every day' so funnily enough you have to vote every day. Pretty self explanatory.

I did and I still got the badge due to being vigilant about the next vote. Once again your point is invalid due to using solely you as the representative of the population.

In conclusion your argumentative skills are appalling and it's a badge with no meaning seriously

FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

TL;DR Argument is terrible, all point to want-want-want. First world problem.

Regarding OP, get mad at your alarm clock or your sleepy brain for missing the vote, Valve couldn't have made it easier to get that achievement.

Well, apart from not cancelling the next two votes that would of meant people had another 16 hours to get it.....
