Listen server (local server) VAC

I've read that ENB series lighting causes a VAC ban due to the .dll modifications, but I never play L4D2 online but host servers locally. Will I get banned if I play on my own local (public) server with friends

There is a probability that you may be vacbanned for using cheats even on non-secure servers. Unless you are already banned.

They only way to cheat safely in a VAC game is offline and preferably with the modem unplugged.

Thanks for the replies, never mind when you play a game even if you hosted it will say in console "VAC enabled". Also ENB series is not a cheating tool, you guys are saying it like it will give me some advantage, all it does it enhance graphics. Google it

That may be, but modifying core game files like DLL files can and has been used to cheat. That's why VAC closely monitors those files and bans you if they are modified.

Use that mod at your own risk.

launch your game in your launch options using -insecure, then start in singleplayer

Remove whatever you installed before removing the -insecure command

However also setting your steam client to offline mode could help, maybe even disabling your internet for the time during

Please stop giving that advice, there does not exist such a startup parameter. That line exists only for dedicated servers.

I've heard somewhere that adding +sv_lan 1 disables VAC for listen servers but idk. In any case it's rather useless for hosting your own servers not on a lan network.
