Update Suspended when downloading multiple titles

My steam always worked fine but all of a sudden (having done no changes to Steam as far as I am aware of) whenever I download more than 1 game simultaneously Steam suspends all but 1 downloads.

I was able to download 4 games at once (each using a fraction of the available download speed) but now when I start downloading say 4 games at once only 1 actually downloads and the other 3 automaticalle get suspended... any ideas what is causing this behaviour?

Would also really like to know the answer to this as I'm having the same problem.

Anyone know?

I've always had that - kind of gave up trying to fix it.

New content system downloads are scheduled into a queue. Once one thing finishes another will start up. Rather than, say, 4 things downloading at once with a quarter speed each, the 4 download in series with full speed each. It's not a problem just so much as it is just different. Overall, the amount of time it'll take to download everything is the same, but each individual item will actually be quicker.

Sure I knew that but I still kind liked it better the old way. I dunno, I already got used to it so it does not really matter anymore to me, but I think they could at least change the wording from suspended, which (at least to me, not a native english speaker) implies that it was cancelled all together and won't start anymore.
They could just display it as update paused or update in queue or update waiting or something.

"Update queued" would be more descriptive, but going by dictionary definition "suspended" is correct. "Update paused" wouldn't be good because that's already used for when the user pauses the update themselves.

When the new content system is fully rolled out, the UI will be changed to expose the queue more directly, so it'll probably be more clear then.
