L4D2 can't run after install: Verify steam service is running...

Same ♥♥♥♥ is happening to me AFTER deleting "c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Steam\SteamService.exe" which i was told to do at the op. Is there any fix to this? Kinda amazing that this ♥♥♥♥ is still around considering the game is 3 years old.

I see this as well and when I let this go for a few minutes it comes back to give me a network error. I think this is due to the server load today. Try back again later or wait for an update, I think this is a game problem (and will be fixed) vice a problem with your specific installation.

Edit: Verified my GCF, tried again to play once the servers came back online, downloaded 4 items and I was good to go.

I'm getting the same thing. "Powered by" screen fades to back about 95% of the way and that's it. No error, no nothing. Task Manager shows Left 4 Dead 2 not responding. It's Win 7/64 all other Steam games run find. Very aggravating.

I also have a problem, L4D2 cannot launch on my new PC:

Specs:
Intel i5-3470 (1155)
ASRock B75H-DGS (LGA1155) Mainboard
Kingston DDR3 PC12800/1600MHZ 4GB
Crucial M4 128GB SSD 2.5" SATA3
W.D 2TB 3.5" SATA 3 HDD
MSI 2GB R7870 TWIN FROZR DDR5 PCI-E
Seasonic M12II Modular 620W 80+

Windows 7
Updated to DirectX 9.0

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling once, and the first page advice, nothing happens.

When I try to launch L4D2, the Steam header bar flickers white for a split second and the L4D2 launch button also flickers once, then that's it.

Any help will be appreciated, if not I guess this will be the end of my L4D2 journey, unless a patch comes out.
