The release date is in Winter Spring Summer 2012

No but seriously, if it's not going to make it by the end of summer, we will probably see an announcement. They do want the game out ASAP but are trying not to rush it.

The problem is that at this point in the summer its playing with words. Sure, summer ends in mid-september... but as far as your average gamer is concerned, thats fall.

Summer 2012 implies that you will be able to play that game DURING summer 2012, not starting on september 20th.

The way things look with their polishing schedule, this won't be done this month. I think mid-late September is a realistic release.

And then, we'll have an absurdly polished game to blow many many hours on.

Summer. Not indian summer, not astrological summer, but summer.

I really don't care how long it takes to be released. The devs should take their time to get it right. In the meantime go outside and enjoy the summer sunshine.

That is a silly thing to say. I hope we are all mature enough to decide for ourselves if we are willing to pre-order a game without a release date.

*cries* I just want the game...I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available to pre-order XD** It makes me sad still seeing the greyed out box in my Steam favorites list =( I'm at least hoping it's not any time later than summer x.x I played the beta and absolutely loved it That was just a tease, now I want more, but I can't have it, so it's playing havoc with my heart <_> Though I still want it, either way XD

So are we going to have to agree the average gamer is an idiot? Because the middle of September, while the tail end of the season, is still summer. Its like denying the Holocaust existed just because yoi don't want to believe.

That is a little too general to be an official release date my friend. Release dates are very specific.

Quote:
release date
noun Journalism .
1.
the time, as the day, part of the day, and sometimes the hour, on or at which release copy may be published or broadcast.
2.
the printed notation of this time on a press release or other advance.

There's a saying in the world of business.

If you want to get something done, find a way to make sure that you're accountable.

This is exactly what the devs have done. In this instance, even though the game is not "finished" as such, and is still being polished, we have all been sold a product that is not "finished" with a very broad promise that it will be released in Summer.

The problem is that it is summer at all times somewhere on this planet. Are we talking US summer, Australian, Samoan, what? Oh, that's right, its Summer. At least, it will be summer somewhere when its released.

So... who am I to complain that for the past what, three months, the devs have not provided a release date. I don't have a right, because I was the one that allowed myself to get scammed in the first place.

Buy a pre-release with no concrete release date they said.

It'll be out when its ready to be out they said...

summer ends at a different point every year, in my eyes it always ends in september cause where i live it feels like summer in sept. and this year it ends at the end of september. and they do have a deadline and its summer so stop complaining that its not out until summer is over.

i don't get how you got scammed, if you really believe you got scammed go talk to a lawyer or steam support, they never said "we took all the money to Vegas and decided to cancel the game" they have only said how much better than the first its going to be and hinted at release date and said how good the game is coming along

You are dense aren't you.

Your average gamer is not the 40 years old man at his all-year job. Most gamers are students, from high school to college.

What this means is that to your average gamer, "summer" means "summer holidays". Sure, TECHNICALLY mid september is still summer as far as the calendar is concerned. But like I said, thats playing with technicalities because we will already be back in school working on our *drumroll* fall term.

To illustrate my point, see this quote from this very thread:

No. No we wont. We will have the absurdly polished game and no time to play it. You know why? Because most of us will be back on a full time school + part time work schedual.

Now I get that it being a single player game at its core, the leveling curve doesn't really matter and we'll play many many hours in the long run. It doesn't change the fact that as a gamer I feel cheated when im told a game will be released this summer only to find out its released when summer is, for all intents and purposes, over.
