Lightbulb [Suggestion] Live chat with Steam Support.

You can solve ur problems really fast and it's pretty cool idea.

Except it might be flooded with like 20000+ people who need help or just want to chat with Valve. Valve got an active userbase on 2 million users.

There is also this where Support might need to take some time to check up the problem. So I honestly don't think it's a good idea. Email works fine and they resolve issue pretty quick for most people. Some people have some bad luck but it ain't many by the looks of it.

You might think they could solve things faster.
But think how long the waiting line would be to get a live support person.
It's the same reason why they don't do phone support.
It just cannot be done with millions of users.

As Zefar said, some cases may take awhile to work on & it would not be fair for the next guy for you to hold up a staff member while he works with you.

Just like your post count :P

If I were to contact support about something, it would either be by email, a support system like this one, or by telephone.

There`s this service desk system... It logs ALL incoming tickets in a kind of forum. And helpdesk ppl can pluck out a problem and start solving it.
Or at least, that`s one of the systems I`ve worked with.
I think that`s already effective enough.

Live chat support is just a gimmick for show. It`s not really as helpful as you think. It will only be effective if there`s a large problem, that needs constant attention... And a handy step-by-step manual can push you trough just the same.

There was no need to bump this thread. You'll have to contact Steam Support.

EA live support has already been mentioned, but I had to wait over an hour and a half for a rep. He got on and couldn't help me.

Live chat is a bad idea and would only cause more kaos.

Xboxlive has chat support, a phone number, ticket system, pretty much every support interface you can think off, I don't see why steam can get away this this lackluster support.

I posted a ticket on Monday, it is Now Friday, and still not even an answer? Most likely they will just copy paste some useless page from the FAQ website and I will have to wait another two weeks for them to actually look into the problem.

I have had steam for 2 months now, and was loving it until the problems started arising, only then do you realise how terrible steam support is. Please steam, I beg you to improve your support, add a live chat, or at least aim for a 48 hour response time!

I agree, it would be simply too many people to handle at once, even with multiple officers or operators.

Yea, also according joystiq origin has 9.3 millions users, yet they have live support with much more satisfying service. Sorry to say this "2 millions userbase" excuse is kinda lame.

Closing thread because this topic has been discussed in great length previously. Currently, they have no plans for it.
