Gaming rig

I am thinking of building a gaming rig, but I have no clue on what is good or what is bad. So can any one give me suggestions of everything that I need for building one like CPU, motherboard, GPU all those things. I would like it to be able to play games on max settings on most of the game with no lag or any issues. But my budget isn't that high. Its 600-700 USD. Find me a really good one for this price.

Cheers.

Do you need external peripherals? Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Speakers, etc? That makes a difference to how far the $600-$700 limit will go.

Max settings with that budget? Sorry buddy not going to happen.
That budget goes for a very mediocre rig.

Suggestions:

CPU: i5-3k series
PSU 650 - 750 W
Motherboard: Gigabyte ( any of the new series would do )
8 GB DDR3 1333 MHZ RAM ( 4 x 2 modules )
GPU is the main issues... With that budget... a ATI HD7770 maybe?

A 650W PSU would be overkill for any system within a $600 budget.

CityFelon - this guide provides sample builds at various price points. Just add a copy of Windows, monitor, mouse and keyboard.

...And that's 'mediocre', by your standards? How much do you think someone has to spend to get a PC that's good?

I guess you are right. A 450 would suffice?

Err...

Thats a mediocre gaming rig.
Because, which i clearly stated, the GPU isnt that good.

You can get my suggestions for about 600 €
Invest 100 € more in a better GPU, and you have a much better rig.

Anything with ~350W(29A) on the 12V rail would be more than plenty for a system with a video card that uses a single PCI-E power connector.

Yes we need to know whether you already have:

monitor (if so what is the native resolution or what brand and model)
keyboard
speakers
mouse
retail version of windows (if you have a version that is an oem version that came with a prebuilt machine you had previously then you need to get a new license.)

You could get a pc with that money.
I'm not sure how many techies are in SPUF.
Head over to Tom's hardware forum.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/forum-13-322.html

I've seen plenty of people get away with a system for that money, depending on where you live.
