Achievements reset requested!

Hello.

Some time ago, looking on my son, I start to replay such games as Plants and Zombies, Psychonauts, Aquaria and such. And it is everything good with that, but it looks slightly more dull than it was first time... Why?..

Then it strikes me: achievements! In my first walkthru there was this funny little pictures popping up here and there. Now it's simply dead silence (relatively speaking .

So, I think, this is quite large problem for me: achievents are nice, good, they add playability and encore you to do things that you'll never do otherwise... but they are one-time deal. It hampers replayability even in short term, and totally useless in long run (I got Aquaria 5 years ago. Now I am replaying it and... well, who are all this people in my achievements list?!)

So request: can it be added possibility to reset achievements in possible player options? Per game, of course - resetting all achievements is extreme!

Maybe in addition to being able to reset achievements for a game, allow resetting specific achievements. Would be nice if you want to show someone how to get them.

I can't see it happening, as this can result in the duplication of stuff like Haunted Metal Scrap. Besides, do you really want 20 Ghastly Gibii in your inventory?

To add that, I would like to change the "Most Recent Achievement" to "Most Prized Achievement"

I am sure a lot of people would rather prize "The Extremely Hard" achievement over an easy one that well mostly all have now and to show the hard one would mean so much more than the last one received.

A compremise would be better...like on Steam ITSELF have it stay but have it be able to reset via local.

Achievements are for more than just gratification. They show how far the average players go and when they start quiting...what we can do...and also what most WON'T do.

To reset this would really mess up others such as myself wondering how far people get and if others even play the games I do for long. I don't want to see the master list reset but I don't see why on your own system, why you can't just reset them just for you.

Or maybe let an achievement be repeatable and have a counter to indicate how many times said achievement has been achieved. I think that would be pretty cool.

Reset individual achievements would be useful, also serve to fix the damaged achievements. It would also be useful to be able to delete saved games in the cloud ...

This is already done in Audiosurf. I'd love to see such feature in all steam games.

A combination of the two might be nice:

A local counter that records when and how many times achieved.
And you could select in the game properties to notify when you made an achievement wether or not you already got it unlocked.

=p you could do Achievements speedruns! lol.

the only way your gonna be able to re-do achivements is by making another account and re-buying the games.

achivements shouldnt hamper your game play. theyre not what makes or breaks the game. play the game because it is fun, not because you get a little picture with words popping up in the corner of the screen.

like someone else mentioned, some games have achivements that give items. would be too easy to exploit. unless, they make it so the item is only given once and will not be given more than that, or achivements like that cant be reset, but its most likely not happening.

its not like you cant re-get the achiement without actually getting it. just re-do what the achievemnt was, you just dont get the pop-up.
