Can an iPod Touch 3rd Generation get iOS 5?
Found my iPod 3rd Gen after losing it for maybe 2 years, and it seems to only be upgradeable to 4.2.1, which is quite odd since if I remember right, is what the iPod touch 2G is limited to.
Edit: I also did a google search, before someone pulls a lmgtfy, and it seems that people are saying that there were no 8GB iPod Touches and that the latest 8GB device other than the 4G was the 2G, but the back of my iTouch has 2 rows of sentences, which indicates that it's an iTouch 3G. Plus there seem to be 3G's with 8GB's for sale on ebay (I'm not 100% sure it's the 3rd generation model, since it was a gift, but I'm very sure it is) Here is a comparison http://www.calvinshub.com/wp-content.../ipodtouch.jpg Last edited by DarkRanger57: 08-07-2012 at 08:26 PM. |

The 8GB models may have been rebranded as 3rd gen when the 3rd gen iPods came out but actually nothing was changed internally. Only the higher capacity 3rd gen models were actually improved.

3rd-gen can, but note that there was never a 3rd-gen 8GB model as above. It may have been slightly updated (IIRC the iPad 2 and ATV 3 were also).
