Question help getting Mirrors Edge to run on new pc? - AMD Graphics card

i recently built my very first custom pc (WOOT!) is a million milesl better than my old laptop, the graphics card it uses it a XFX Radeon HD 6850 1gb.

most of my games run fine on my new pc, but i have a major problem with mirrors edge. When i click on the shortcut (on desktop or steam libary - same effect) i get a little pop up box with the mirrors edge logo - nothing new there, but when it goes to full screen some reason it kills the feed (video display) from the graphics card to the monitor.
The only way i can get the display back is to press control, alt delete, unplug the video cable (HDMI in my case) and replug it in to the monitor, select task manager and close mirrors edge via that. otherwise i would have lost video signal completly. Occasionally when in the cntrl alt delete page i can hear the main menu music of mirrors edge playing slightly, but no video what so ever.

any ideas on how to fix this? i was really enjoying playing it on my old laptop before (that had a Nvidia 9600m GS - rubbish, but it ran on min graphics fine).

i have installed the latest full driver update - AMD Catalyst 12.6

any help is useful thankyou.

note - i have verified the game cache

You had the problem with a previous driver and also still have the problem with this driver? Or the problem just cropped up with this driver?

Some people, with this same issue and same game, report solving the problem by forcing a resolution change in the steam startup options for that game.
What monitor brand/model are you using?

Seems to me like it's a problem with resolution/refresh rate that goes to your monitor through HDMI. Check your config files

C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config\TdEngine.ini

Look for ResX, ResY, set them to your monitor's native resolution
