WHy doesnt the second jump always trigger?

Sometimes jump off a high cliff and before landing press second jump to avoid fall damage. but it doesnt work for some reason.

I'm pretty sure it's because you accidentally go off the cliff before the first jump. This is most common for me on Badlands near the balcony.

If you fall off something, that counts as the first jump.

This is true, check with the double-jumping achievement, just look at them in-game and check the 'show on hud' box.

I did this and I always had past experience where the jump didn't activate correctly.

are you jumping off the cliff? I used to do that a lot without even realizing it. If you are doing it then, there you go.
