Report violation - do they really check users?

Hello.
I have a question - do Valve check the user if you report him for violation, like when somebody is cheating and gets reported? Do they check some logs or something and ban people?

Check yes, for cheating? I doubt it, that's what VAC is for.

Well, in the past few days I saw 2 wallehackers in CS:GO and 1 in Source. Does playing with a hack means they have a vac-safe cheat or that's the way of the anticheat - let's them play and bans them later? In this way of thoughts does reporting a cheater help something? Like manually checking vac log files or something.

Could be still undetected, but yes players only get flagged when detected and banned later.

I don't think so, check the Support sites:

The VAC system is automated - contacting Steam Support to report cheaters is not necessary, nor will Steam Support act on any information provided.

VAc works on a delayed base. That way cheaters don't know what hit them. And cheat makers don't know which cheat got detected.
Cheat reports are used by VAC to scan harder/more frequently the reported player's activity. So yes, reports are taken into account. It's just that a ban cannot be issued based solely on reports.

Unfortunately there are private hacks that can go above a ACS (Anti Cheat Software)... They end up being detected and added to the database.

Cheat fighting is a lot like Virus fighting, you can't catch them all always.

Reading through that thread, it helps catch cheaters.

OK, thanks. All cheaters die. Peace.
