Is Steam Achievement Manager Safe?

I'm just curious if I could use SAM to reset my achievements, not unlock locked achievements I haven't earned. I just want to re-earn everything..

I'm also interested in this topic. I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas a lot recently but have had to disable achievement unlocking for most of my sessions because the only way to fix many bugs in the game is with the console. I'm thinking of using SAM to unlock everything I's actually earned but am afraid of the legal issues this could bring.

People listen, I'm not 100% sure about this but I think that Steam doesn't give a damn about S.A.M. because no one really cares about anybody's achievements except their own. Its not something that gives a special advantage like aimbot or wallhack. Aimbot and Wallhack are considered cheating. But having more achievements than others doesn't really give you any type of advantage.

I heard they can ban you if youre doing something with your statistics in games, but not unlocking achievements.

So since this ins't giving an advantage over other players then its like a steam skin?

Well then why were those people who got the golden wrench using leaked info VAC banned? They weren't really getting an advantage over anyone.

Those were only cases (that I can remember) of manually applied bans by Valve, it has nothing to do with this.

I used SAM a while ago, about 6 months ago to unlock all TF2 achievements. My VAC is still good, though I recently cleared them all so I could get them legitimately. I also used it to get the poker night items.

To clarify, hopefully once and for all:

So far nobody has been VAC banned for using SAM,

HOWEVER

Valve devs are well aware of its use and can react accordingly as they already did in the past.

Now, on a personal note, I can see that there's no harm into unlocking achievements to redo them again just for fun (excluding to unlock stuff), but note that they (the devs) already have frown upon third party application and have punished the perpetrators.

So, it's up to you.
