Question Left 4 Dead 2 Addon Support missing

Overnight it seems that Left 4 Dead 2 addon support has simply gone missing for me, resulting in much grief insofar as installing the new featured campaign of Deathcraft.
It simply doesn't exist anymore, and I cannot install .vpk's.
Suggestions? Input? Accusations?

Yeah I just notice it too missing. It's a shame because it really helped me. When I install custom campaign without add-on support the campaigns sometimes lag from time to time, small lag ( more like small freeze ) but when I had add-on support installed it worked like a charm without freeze / lag / whatever. Sucks that they remove it :'-(.

What do you mean "Left 4 Dead 2 addon support" is missing? If you mean the one that is in "tools" that has not been needed for over one year. Addon support has been built in since the Passing (or Sacrifice, don't remember). No one should be installing this from the Tools area. If you did, uninstall it.

Add-on support files were already included in no mercy update, it was just useless. It is a good thing that they removed it. Also, don't forget the files were still downloaded by servers by default, which is a waste of space.

If that's the case, what do I associate .vpk's with?
Can't install the new campaign.

Already verified files once to no avail.
Edit: problem solved after verifying twice.

You don't have to associate them to anything. I never use the VPK installer. I just copy them to the ADDONS directly. The VPK installer is very unreliable. Either way, it's associated anyway.

That's the wrong bin folder. Check again.

Seriously, just get used to dragging + dropping vpks into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons , ALWAYS works as opposed to the sometimes buggy addoninstaller. Just make a shortcut to this folder on your desktop and never have .vpk woes again.

Great advice man, my add-on support was downloading 7GB so I just uninstalled it like you said. I then validate my Left 4 Dead 2 and now that needs to download 7GB update. Looks like if you have it then you should not delete it unless you enjoy re-downloading the exact same files again.
