Red face Offline mode error

I set steam to start in offline mode, but when I tried to start it later, I got and continue to get this error:

"Steam needs to be online to update, but was set to offline mode."

When I click ok, it closes. Well, playing offline that day was busted, but now I can't play at all, even though I'm on the internet again. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I had this same problem, and got this answer from Support, which worked fine for me:

"Hello Sterling,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Please exit Steam and go to the folder Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam

Delete all of the files in this folder except for SteamApps.

Restart your computer.

Launch Steam and re-test the issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.

Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

If the issue persists, make sure your network is optimized for Steam:

If you have any further questions, please let us know."

Steam will update once started, and it will look like all of your games are gone, they will turn yellow, 'update' and everything should be fine.

This location does not exist in Mountain Lion - is there a fix for 10.8.1?

Yes it does. The Library folder is simply hidden in Lion. See this sticky thread for more info.
