EDIT: Ah it only came out yesterday well done, a very quick pick up on that one. TO ANYONE ELSE: It's always best to do a clean install with a Beta (well any driver TBH) it will mess up (lose) any profile changes you made in the Nvidia Control Panel so make a note of what changes you where using. I'm pretty positive the Custom Install Option allows for the clean install, I will confirm after the download finishes. BW BTW: Any Borderlands Fans here? There is a special with buying a Nvidia GForce GTX 660Ti or higher quality card, it reckons there is a free Borderland 2 with it? : http://www.geforce.com/landing-page/...-borderlands-2 EDIT, EDIT: Just to confirm Use the Custom Setup Option that allows for a Full Clean Install of the New Driver. Hey BW, if you think about it, the driver was released today. 27 Aug in the US is 28 Aug here. Gotta love virtual time travel.

I've tried with the new Beta analog_relic reported being released today or was it yesterday, lets stick with, very recently.
Based on my eyes I think the graphic quality is better with this new Beta, for me it all looks slightly 'clearer' maybe 'sharper' is probably a better word to use. FPS for me has not noticeably improved, but they have not got worse which some drivers have done in the past. Different PC config's and different eyes will obviously get or see? different results. For those who are happy to try Beta's I'd say have a go and see what you see, He He Players still using the 'Official' Nvidia 301.42 Driver and decide to test this newer 306.02 Beta may see more obvious differences than I have from just stepping up from the previous 304.79 Beta? Have a go, again as I often point out you have to search for the Beta's at Nvidia, they are not offered as the next auto update if you try the normal update driver method. Here you go, the Win8 and Win7 64Bit Version: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-wi...ta-driver.html |

GTX 660? Damn, makin' my GT 440 feel older and older, and I only bought this thing a year ago.
Will definitely pick up the new driver though - think I only support an older one, but I've been forgetting to check anyways so thanks for the tip-off! +rep |

Installing for my GTX 680 now... will report back in a few minutes...
-edit- Well I haven't noticed a huge improvement thus far. Though it is currently raining in my save (rain seems to have an impact on my overall performance) so I'll continue to test. Last edited by trojanrabbit.gg: 08-28-2012 at 10:36 AM. |

I do see an improvment. Maybe its placebo, but it seems crisper and less drops in frames. Still hitches abit when riding a horse though.

I started having random FPS drops while out roaming the world or sometimes when going from indoor areas to outdoor areas. Moving from 301.42r to 304.79b made the FPS drops a bit more infrequent but they still occurred. Since moving from 304.79b to 306.02b I have yet to experience the random FPS drop at all and like others have mentioned the game looks crisper both indoors and outdoors.

I don't see any improvement over current 301.42 WHQL driver. I tested in areas I mostly experience FPS drops; Riften forest, Markarth, Dragonsreach, Labyrinthian Tribune. I still get the same low FPS in all those areas.
Only noticeable difference is 306.02 beta makes everything look like they are filtered with sharpen filters. |

(Was sick and tired of catalyst drivers that were pretty bad in linux and a little better in Windows with TONS of bugs that NEVER got fixed for years(then they drop support for your chipset when they attempt a fix) and IF they do fix something they usually don't really and also add a TON of new bugs with the "fix". It was hell, and still is actually but my 2.5y GPU just got dropped in catalyst while nvidia goes back to what GF2?) |
