Lightbulb Getting a server populated, How to? Help.

I just bought a server in Chicago with 128tick, 1000fps, Classic Competitive mode, Halftime Swap, Damage Reports after death/end of round, Free Armor and kits, End of round Map voting.. Its tricked out with all the good stuff people seem to like (That doesn't compromise performance), yet i cant get this thing populated!

So i need your help reddit.. What can i do to get my server populated?

I have tried posting in forums of communities i belong to, i have tried inviting people from my friends list to join, but it seems like people only want to join servers that are already almost full of people.. They are not willing to join a server that's almost empty, and i don't blame them.

One of my goals is to find about 10-15 people to be admin in my server, this way there will ALWAYS be someone around that will be able to keep things under control and prevent people from trolling/hacking/disruptive behavior/etc.. I just want a fun/competitive/casual environment for everyone to enjoy after they get off work, classes, or anytime.

This isn't an exclusive community, we aren't a clan/team, i want it to be welcome and open to all and not to be tied down by "clan attitudes". Lets build a community that enjoys playing counter-strike as friends and everyone is welcome.

If your interested, add me to your friends list (http://steamcommunity.com/id/plexxity/) and if your mature, friendly, eager to help, and want an opportunity to help me manage the server we can work together.
I'm totally open to all suggestions, and eager to hear them!

Feel free to join the server, it is located in Chicago, check it out

Have fun!

It sounds like you have done alot already to try and get people inside the server, by posting it around communities.

It sounds like you need to gather a few more "dedicated" people/friends to try and go in the server even when there is no-one around. Then people will join bit by bit.

You can always hop onto a different server yourself, make friends, and start inviting people.

Good luck!

Yes i have been playing in other servers and trying to make friends, then invite them after i get a few people interested in what im trying to do.. no one sticks around too long though, seems like you need at least 10 people in a server to get it going strong

The easiest way to ever start a server is to have a group of dedicated people, maybe some that will bring equally as many dedicated friends. Having one or two people trying to stick around is utterly pointless and you're approaching it wrong. Having them join bit by bit is additionally wrong. You want an entire group to join at the same time; a group of at least 8 people is decent. And as that group plays on the server, random people will join bit by bit. Of course you have to maintain a consistency of having these 8 people on a daily basis. This is just a general/rough guideline I'm kind of slapping together as I go. Take it as you will.

The only way I can imagine gaining so many dedicated people at one time would be perhaps reach out to a clan without their own server and offer to make your server their home.

Sorta of a "Hey, if you guys need a reliable server to practice on you're welcome to join mine and use it as much as you want".

Maybe I'm wrong here, but that's the only scenario I see that could possibly work and instantly increase traffic to your server.

Good luck man!
