For the life of me I can't aim

I'll make this quick

- I can't aim for crap....20 hours in I am lucky if I get 2 kills per 30 rounds.

- I can't seem to get the crosshair perfect for me. (Quick question....Can you have custom crosshairs?)

- Any videos on youtube that anyone has used to help them get better at this game they would like to share with me?

- What types of scripts do people use to play this game?

Use the Classic Crosshair, it's much better and practice with Bots offline. Practising with Bots will help you get a hang of aiming.

That's the first steps.

Use classic static crosshair.

Turn off mouse acceleration in options.

http://donewmouseaccel.blogspot.com....ation-fix.html

Follow this guide to remove mouse acceleration in Windows 7.

Keep your crosshair at head level at all times.

Start an offline server with no bots on dedust2 and spawn as CT. Get an m4a4 and shoot one bullet at the wall. Move your cursor away from this and practice instantly dragging your cursor towards that bullet and then firing one bullet. Keep practising until you can do this consistently.

You may need to adjust your sensitivity. If you find yourself dragging way past the bullet, then you need to lower your sensitivity.

Once you can consistently do this. Practice strafe tapping.

Strafe - stop - aim - fire 1-2 bullets
Strafe - stop - aim - fire 1-2 bullets

Its important to remain stationary while shooting.

Even if you do aim good luck getting them to register. For me, shooting one bullet about every 1/2 second at the body, me standing still, shooting someone also standing or crouching still, it still fails to register. If I'm lucky it will hit once for low damage. It's absolutely terrible. The crosshair is right on their body.

That new crosshair is aimed (lol, get it xP) more for the console version, where everybody sprays and prays. It helped me alot to change back the classic crosshair, I cannot see anything past the new one.

I kind of like the new one but it is a bit cluttered.

I recommend the IMI Galil as an excellent markman rifle though, I'm putting more folks down with that than the AK or the M4.

Just jump into Offline play with some harmless or easy bots and use them as simple target practice, when you can hit them consistently in a reasonable time of them coming on screen knock up the difficulty a little.

If you jumped right into Online play though I wouldn't be surprised if you don't even see where you are shot from, some of these folks are seriously good.

Dont use too high mouse DPI settings, the mouse gets so sensitive that even pressing the left button moves the aim.

I use 400 DPI, yes thats low, but gives much more stability for me.

And then adjust in game sensetivity so that if you do a farely big swipe you turn 180 degrees or a little more. Then whan you learn to control the aim you can raise the sensetivity if you want.

Shooting.
Use a slow fire rate, shot 1-2, maybe 3 shots, stop, re-aim, wait 0,5-1 sec, shot 1-3 shots again. If being fired at move a bit sideways, stop, shoot.

If you spray its hard to hit, and even bursting too fast, you will miss.

If close like "7-12 yards" then spray but imedeatly pull down crosshair almost below targets feet or more. But its better to shot slower.

And try to not always be the first guy rushing out, hang back a bit without over doing it.

Also be sure you rates are decent.

Like
rate 80000
cl_updaterate 64 (or 128)
cl_cmdrate 64 (or 128)
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_interp 0.031

Now I know these tips are NOT the best to use if you are "pro" but in the beggining I think its a good way to learn the aim.

Also Im not saying the rate settings are the best or perfect, but it should be decent.

Why would you suggest only aiming for headshots (something that requires better accuracy) to someone new who can't seem to even make body shots

Do a ton of aim maps against other players. Yes you will die but it'll be a good start.
