Does using a Trainer count as cheating?

Well I have compleated the masseffect series a few times now but I keep going back to the 1st game to change dissision on ME2 and ME3 but its taking too long. The fact I have to play them over again isn't an issue as i quite anjoy it but I would like to just spped through them and thats where the trainers come in.

Would using one of these get me a steam ban:
http://www.cheathappens.com/13879-PC-Mass_Effect_cheats

I know it not so much a VAC issue but I dont know where else to ask.

VAC doesn't ban as long as it doesn't alter any of DLL files if it's a seperate program make sure you close and reboot your pc before you play another VAC protected game

Mass Effect isn't a VAC secured game. You'll be fine. Just make sure you don't have the trainer running when you load into a VAC secured game server like CoD, CS, TF2, that kinda thing & you won't have any problems.

As a time saver maybe check out: http://www.masseffectsaves.com/

They have a bunch of saves with various decisions so that you can check out the effects without having to do all of them yourself, heh.

I would not do it, they can contain viruses and leave processes that Can ban you.

1) A trainers is a cheat
2) If you use a trainer in a VAC enabled game you WILL BE VAC BANNED
3) "cheats" "hacks" "trainers" are another name for "program that will probably steal your account credentials"

USE SUCH PROGRAMS AT YOUR OWN RISK

I wouldn't be too concerned about VAC I'd be more concerned about the trainer. There are a lot of trainers out there that contain more viruses than a russian biological weapon.

I'm not saying don't use it just make sure the source you're getting it from seems legit and see if people have encountered problems with it or not.

Well, in light of this thread, i'd avoid using trainers for other games while VAC is running.

The Cheathappens trainers you mentioned will not steal your account info or give you a virus - as long as it's a genuine trainer from their site. However as has been said make sure you close the trainer before running a VAC enabled game.

Also there is masseffect2saves, or you can use the Gibbed Save Editor to edit save games:

You can get the last "official" release and the modified xbox compatible version from here.

What works for me is not to cheat. It truly is that simple.

Well considering the games are single player and NOT VAC protected at all I think it would be quite challenging to get VAC banned in a game that done not have the system in place.

So in conclusion, today we learned that games without VAC can not give you a VAC ban. The third post in the thread stated this fact.

I can confirm *personally* that a CH trainer for ME2 will *not* give you a VAC Ban.
Such is the case with most *clean* trainers for SP games(especially games that do not have VAC enabled).

Wow, people keep asking the same thing over, over, over, over again and people keep answering the same thing over, over, over again.

The point is...., that a question like this has been asked a 'billion' times and answered a 'billion' times.

Interesting how this forum has become kind of like a spam forum due to users not searching.

You won't get banned for doing something that happens in singleplayer, the only way you can actually get banned is by placing weird files into your Mass Effect folders and then playing that game. Even then you won't get VAC banned because it's not modifying Multiplayer, only modifying singleplayer. Now using cheats in multiplayer is a completely different topic, you will obviously get banned for using cheats on multiplayer, no matter how you get and/or use the cheats.
