Question VAC Ban by engine only?

Hi,

I have been banned many years ago while playing Counter Strike Source but I'm still using the same account. I'd like to clarify if the ban is only for Source engine games or does it apply to all games?

For example, I intend to purchase Borderlands 2 (which is not operating on the Source engine). If Borderlands 2 have VAC enabled servers, would I be able to play on them?

Thanks

You are banned in the "before left 4 dead 2" source engine only

So basically, I'm only banned from source games? Everything else, VAC enabled or not, will be fine?

Assuming you don't cheat again, yes. If you do, more VAC bans for you.

This article discusses how 'engine' cheats apply to Source and Gold Source. Otherwise it's 'per game'.

before l4d1. A ban in L4D1 cannot cause / be caused by a ban in another game.

Your account will be permanently flagged with VAC Bans on record though, what's the issue with buying the game on a new account?

Because he doesn't want to have to keep jumping from one account to the other in order to play one game or the other, and keep friends lists the same, etc. ?

Cheating in one of the following Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list:
Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Day of Defeat: Source
Team Fortress 2

Cheating in one of the following Gold Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list:
Counter-Strike
Condition Zero
Ricochet
Day of Defeat
Team Fortress Classic
Half-Life: Deathmatch
Deathmatch Classic
Getting a VAC ban will ban you from all games in the list (GoldSrc or Source not both)

If the game is not on this list you are VAC Banned only in that game..
