Member since date changed
Hello.
I've used a very unique username for sometime now (Not my Steam forums name), it dates back to my Diablo II days (Circa 2001). I recently attempted to make another Steam account, using that username, however it was taken. I always knew that I had an older Steam account, but never went back to it, because there were no games on it. After 10-15 minutes of trying to remember passwords, I finally logged in. I was pretty pumped to see that my member since date was Sept 12th, 2003. I had an eight year badge and was pretty excited. I also checked Steamrep.com and noticed I had a five digit Steam ID. I took a screenshot, for Reddit and to send to a friend. I had no money in my account at the time, so I had to wait before I could add any friend. Basically for e-peen. I went downstairs to eat dinner. Came back up, noticed Steam needed updating. Updated Steam, and boom. Member since date was changed to the current date (Sept 2nd, 2012) and my badge was gone. My Steam ID was also an eight digit ID. It was pretty depressing, but not the end of the world. I contacted Steam support, and was told they couldn't help me. They said the account was created Sept 2nd, 2012 and told me that they could no longer talk about the issue. That was it. This isn't the end of the world. I just want to know if anyone has ever had this problem, was it fixed? Or did you get the same response as I did? Should I contact support again maybe? |

It sounds like you logged into a different account.

No, I logged into the right one.
I'm 100% sure of that. |

If you have the screenshot then that number and the 8 digit number can be used to see if there are two separate accounts or not.

I honestly took the screenshot of the account as a quick thing for e-peen, I planned on adding games once I put some money in my bank account. |

The Steam ID wouldn't have changed, regardless of the date.
So if it was a low digit but isn't anymore, it's a different account. |

I'm positive it's the same account.
Like I said, I think it changed from five to eight. I could most certainly be wrong, but I'm 99% sure. This is super frustrating :/ |

I did, told me they can't change it things like that, but I've seen them do it for other people.

We do not have the ability to edit that data.
Unless you can remember the Steam ID, we don't have enough information at hand. |

I'll try to remember it.
Sorry for having a terrible memory.

I also thought it was possible for a Valve employee to change a Steam ID?
IE: Someone gets hacked. Not implying one changed mine, obviously. I just thought it was a possibility. |

No. If an account is stolen then Valve returns the account to the owner. The Steam ID never changes.
