Dark Souls at 60fps alpha patch

So someone managed to hack together a working 60fps fix. It makes the game run at 60fps without speeding up the animation, it just changes the internal time divider. Tho that does mean it slows down if your famerate drops below 30fps.

So it's in alpha and it doesn't even let you sign on to GFWL, so the thing may not even pan out. I tried it tho and played from character creation to just past the Taurus Demon and man 60fps Dark Souls is wild. It's like the first time you saw one of those TVs that does the smooth motion thing to a movie, it looks strange. Not sure everyone will even like it, but for those who do I hope he keeps working on it and the thing pans out.

The posts regarding it and the download for the alpha are currently only in the comments on Durante's current blog post here.

Please read the README. The mod will surely break everything for everyone but feel free to give some feedback.

Good to see another element of this lacking port fixed by amateurs without access to the source code.

So it seems most problems fixed by the community?

1024 x 720p fixed
30fps lock fixed
Stereo sound not working properly fixed
Mouse controls fixed.

I still hope the professionals at FROM put out a good patch.

That's pretty nice, though I doubt that many people could even run this game at a solid 60fps.

I mean with the resolution fix installed at least.

I've been seeing quite a few posts from people who are saying that it doesn't even have a solid 30fps for them.

not that demanding. i have a n i7 and it runs beautiful, read people running it on an i5 and ran beautifully as well

game is capped at 30, nobody has been able to run above it cause it was capped at that. now theres a fix for that and it runs very well.

Most people seem to be having fps drops during high particle effects.

I mean, I get a solid 30 fps with no drops at all (so far) with the res mod at 1920x1080 (DOF res at 1080 as well) but I have a very good computer so... I dunno.

I doubt even mine could keep a solid 60 during some parts of the game. I haven't even gotten to Blighttown yet and I've heard it's the worst place for performance in the game.

GTX 680 OC@ 1254/3486
I7 930 OC@ 4.1GHz
6GB RAM
Win7 64bit

I have an i5-2500k running at 4.5ghz 16gb of ram and a Geforce 260GTX. I managed mostly 60fps from creating a character to just past the Taurus Demon. It did drop a bit from time to time and it was slightly disruptive. They may be able to get the performance up to snuff eventually who knows.

The big thing will be GFWL compatibility. If I can't play on-line then I'm not really interested.

You think they can do that? They failed on the PC controls, they failed on the Resolution settings, and now fans are able to play in 60fps but lock the animation in 30fps, not perfect yet but hey it works. The online part is also butchered as if they even tried it.

Something they said wouldn't be possible. All I see is a cheap company who only wants money. They took the quickest route to port it. Odds of a patch coming is most likely slim.

While the army of twinks is an annoyance, I do like co-op, so I pass. I'm down for disabling gfwl as much as the next guy, but I kinda need it to bro up with people.

Just tried this patch out with dsfix 1.1. It looks great and the animations and gameplay scale perfectly to the higher frame rate. However you begin to realise how badly optimised this game is. The particle effects in the asylum demon fight and the fog door drop the fps to 30 at some points.
