Heartwarming Tales about the Community

Especially on SPUF we often think that the TF2 community is horrendous and that there are no decent people in it. But I keep finding that even when I think that is the case, people are better than you might think:

So I was asked to participate in a highlander event with some friends. I ended up with pyro, which was a big problem because I don't have any cosmetics for the pyro. They all had such great cosmetic items and I didn't want to look like an ugly idiot when it came to the big event.

At first I was just kind of mad, and then I was in denial. Then there was a period when I ignored all of them or sabotaged their work. It was like a multi-stage process of dealing with the situation. When the game finally came I actually was totally okay with being pyro. But I did make an off-hand remark about how I would look better as a different class, and you know what? My friends agreed that it wouldn't be a problem and said that they never thought that I had to be the one to go pyro in the first place. So I played as Spy, which allowed me to show off my big kill among other things. Sure we lost pretty horribly and I didn't kill anyone, but hey that's not what really counts.

So I'm just glad that there are such nice people in the Team Fortress community, even when it doesn't seem that way all the time. And I guess I learned that I should just state my feelings right away instead of worrying so much about offending people, because more often than not it saves a lot of worrying.

So anyway, what sort of experiences have raised your opinion of the TF2 community?

The way a squeaky voice used a voice mod instead of his real voice.
We took him more seirously.
Da has happened with society!

Wow, you let hats have an impact on which class you play?
I think the community has just got more heterosexual.

every time I see someone give advice to a new player instead of yelling at them for mistakes or their voice

always makes me smile

even stuff as small as airblasting burning teammates can do that

The guy who took a half hour of his time to show me how to trade and not get ripped off, then gave me a free hat.

OP, I can't tell if you're trolling with that story, or if you are really that sad of a player.
