Post Steam Client Bootstrapper?

Maybe I'm over thinking but, My entire steam application use to say Steam.exe, after a week of thinking it was a glitch, my chat has been showing up from previous chat sessions I have had. Even if they were from 2 months ago, I just decided to check at the application info and it's crazy.

Steam Client Bootstrapper (buildbot_winslave04_steam_steam_rel_client_win32@ winslave04)

Product version 01.00.00.01
Copyright from 2010, and has a file description of Steam Client Bootstrapper

Is anyones steam doing this?

Chat logs are a new feature included in the Steam client beta, if you're opted in for that.

Bootstrap is just a commonly used protocol for retail software.

Better of linking to below then that, that's not same as software bootstrapping.

They've introduced a new way to update the client, so it all looks different now.

The "buildbot_winslave04_steam_steam_rel_client_wi n32@ winslave04" bit is just information about Valve's build system. By the look of it, they have a cluster of machines for compiling code. In this case, you can see that the file is for the release version (rel, as opposed to an internal version) of the Steam client for Win32 (the Windows API) and it was built on the machine winslave04.

Right, sorry. Not quite that tech literate.

I always wondered what the "winslave" meant in the name...
