Play Own Music While Playing TF2
Like how you can do on an ipod/iphone/ipad while playing another game.
Any way to do this in TF2? I was thinking use itunes in the background and turn TF2's music off. |

im sorry but you needed to make a thread for this?
computers by default dont just play sound for the active app. press play on itunes(though id really recommend you use something less bloated while playing, like winamp or decibel) switch to tf2 tf2 has audio options and volume sliders. |

Or you can join a server with a radio, though that's not your "own" music.

I use foobar2000 for this. Full-featured without being bloated and, critically for listening while playing TF2, global hotkeys for any function you want.
Use Windows' built in volume mixer to get the right balance between TF2 and whichever music player you choose, and you're done. |

Ctrl+[arrow keys] bound to next/previous track and volume up/down.
Ctrl+END is pause/play in tf2 console, type volume [decimal value] I used to use foobar, now I use winamp. Doesn't matter what media player you use, just make sure it has global hotkey support. |

Use the steam web browser and go to playlist.com? That's what I do. That or use the radio plugin on servers.

What... either I'm incredibly stupid, my computer is incredibly smart, or this is very easily solved by just playing music at the same time as playing TF2 and adjusting your volume...

TF2 doesn't have much in the way of background music.
I just have YouTube playing in the background while playing. |

Start up TF2...Alt + tab to desktop, click on XMplay (or whatever multimedia player you use), find TF2 music playlist, jump back into the game.

Ok so iTunes should be good?
I really don't want to reimport all of my music into another app unless there is an "import iTunes library" option in those alternative apps. |

I just use Songbird and control it with the extra buttons on my mouse.
You want to use something that's lightweight. I'm not sure how good iTunes is in that regard. |

You can just copy MP3s to the 'sound' folder in your TF2 directory, then type 'play yourmusicnamehere.mp3' into console. It's kind of primitive for that purpose, but it works.
