Delete the user folder in the steamapps dir. and you should be able to run it with the new user.

Is there anyway to install Ubuntu alongside my OS if I don't have a blank DVD or a thumb drive?

I followed the manual except for repartitioning part, and I can't see my Windows Steam folder.
1. I added it to Shared Folders and ticked automount
2. I executed usermod line from the guide
3. I can access sf_Steam folder, but it's empty.

Any ideas what am I doing wrong? I'm re-downloading TF now, it just takes time...

EDIT: nvm, got my butt penguin

Some people are asking for a mac tutorial, but tbh I feel its as easy, if not easier to do this tutorial through a mac, considering how they have similar terminals and commands..

I currently have had no problems so far (virtualbox, gparted, lxde, etc.) The only difference is that a mac has sourceinitosx.gcf instead of sourceinit.gcf (implying it's a different file.) I'm omitting the file and copying the rest of the files to linux, hopefully it will work.
